Etheric Light should be used to make Rare gear into Legendary gear
As of now, Etheric Light is the most useless drop in the game. It has no purpose and does nothing for you; you can't even turn it in to the Speaker for Glimmer or Motes. But, what if it had a new purpose? I was thinking a while back about how nice some of the Rare armor sets in the game look, and how much it sucks that I can't wear them without handicapping myself. And then I thought about Etheric Light; purposeless and useless Etheric Light. But then it hit me; what if that oh so useless Material could be used to upgrade a Rare armor piece/weapon into a Legendary weapon? It would give Etheric Light a purpose and double if not triple Armor Customization. And just for balancing reasons, Etheric Light would only change gear from Rare to Legendary; and not affect Dmg/Dfns values. Upon upgrading the gear to Legendary, its Dmg/Dfns value would stay the same: so that 287 Rare helmet stays 287 upon upgrade, but now you can actually Infuse it to a higher value.
Come on, you ALL know you want to wear a Legendary Seraph I armor set.

i like this. i always wanted at least something that could make any legendary infusable. it should be able to turn any blue or purple into an infusable purple.

Infuse it, and the item gets the following bonus: LIGHT - - - BONUS 000-275 - Boosts to 280 276-289 - +5 Light 290-294 - +4 Light 295-299 - +3 Light 300-304 - +2 Light 305-309 - +1 Light 310-??? - No Bonus Maybe it could even work with Prison of Elders gear, too. We need to make PoE relevant again.

That's a fantastic idea! Or if not turning the gear legendary, at least let us use etheric light to infuse rare gear higher, similar to exotic gear needing marks and an exotic shard.

Necrobump, mabye it can also be used to upgrade year 1 gear to year 2 for infusion. Just a thought.

The only problem is legendarys normally have more perks than rares, so if they added one spot for a random perk, awesome

6 RepliesId prefer if etheric light actually gave you light. Say 1 etheric infused into a piece of gear = 10 light. Sure would help in gearing up alternative armor sets

I like that idea! The shinna or whatever it's called gear looks like vog gear for the hunter and I really like it.

Use it as a way to re-roll legendary armor, like how exotics have that material that Xur sells.
