I personally won't spoil anything, but what do you guys think? Me? It rubbed me the wrong way. Perhaps I'm just a hopeless romantic, but I found a certain character's actions to be rather tragic and borderline heartbreaking (guess I'm just a big softie). Yes, the odds stacked against the "good guys" seem insurmountable now, which is cool. It'll be interesting to see how this new threat will be dealt with... but it still bothers me.
Is 343's changeup good story telling, or are they just radically changing things for the sake of attempting to keep it fresh? Thoughts?
If you've been following the most recent books you will see this all makes sense. Not in the fact that Cortana is the big bad, but AIs becoming more of the focus. As for Cortana herself. I believe, and this is just a guess, that when she got separated from Chief in Halo 4 during his encounter with the Librarian she made contact with the Domain at that point. Because she was rampant at the time it basically preserved her unstable and insane version and that is what we ended up getting in Halo 5. Overall I like the way the story went. As a matter of fact they left this game open for a continuation better than Halo 4 did. I personally can't wait to see where it leads.
