His own creation did not acknowledge his command. They thus fell from Grace and separated themselves from their Creator through disobedience. Not just eating a fruit the way you say it. God provides a chance of redemption through himself in the form of his Son, Jesus. Why did God disallow eating the fruit from the tree of knowledge? Not sure we don't have the answers to every detail. Some scholars believe it led to loss of innocence. Well why then did God have that tree in the garden? Why was the devil allowed in the garden? Perhaps it was to test the resolve of his creation, first man and woman? Or maybe not. We can keep going on but these questions won't ever have answers and it is not critical to the rest of the faith.
