Feminists don't like it when I use this term. It's been claimed a few times that I'm just a "men's rights activist" trying to sound morally superior. They tell me that I'm a feminist if I support equal rights for men and women, and that I'm one of those "I don't see color" kinds of people.
What's wrong with being an egalitarian? It encompasses more than just gender, it literally means that I believe all people who be treated equally no matter your gender, sexuality, race, economic status, etc. I feel like the term is significantly better than feminism.
So the discussion here is basically this:
Egalitarianism vs Feminism
-
Feminism=egalitarianism. One is not superior. Feminism is given its name denoting females specifically because it's quite evident considering the history of the human race that females have not been treated equal. Egalitarianism is equality on all fronts, feminism is concerned with equality between the genders. I would say that any feminist is holding egalitarian ideals, and any egalitarian is holding feminist ideals. I would also say, the peanut-sized-brain misandrists parading their misandry as feminism are idiots, and only gain so much attention because of a patriarchal ideology that has become ingrained within society. Why does the whole world go up in flames when someone mentions feminism? Why are misandrists who obviously are not advocating equality considered feminists? Why are these unjustifiable considerations considered valid? Why does this validation then become a justification for being against "feminism?"

Nothing is wrong with it, it's just taking a little time to catch on. But I agree that it is the most reasonable choice.
