I was on the forums today and saw two posts specifically about holiday festivals in the Tower. There were two posts that generated quite a bit of controversy, one that called for a Christmas Festival and one that called for a Ramadan Festival.
After reading these posts I couldn't believe how hypocritical and backwards some people on the forums are. Most accept a Christmas festival but are absolutely offended by the mere thought of a Ramadan Festival.
Have we really fallen so far? Posting inappropriate phrases to bash the Islamic faith and making jokes about terrorism. It really is a shame.
Don't give me the cop out excuses of that Christmas is more commercialized and makes up the majority, those explanations are complete crap, not everyone wants to celebrate a holiday with Christian roots.
I for one don't even think that Destiny has any of the faiths we have presently. They praise the Traveler as their Savior and the Speaker is sort of the Pope to the people in a sense. I don't Christmas exists. I do, however, think that having a seasonal festival of some sort would be great
TL;DR
What justifiable reason can you give me for such a huge difference in opinion?
PS- for those that agree what do you think would be a good idea for a festival during the holiday season?

In DCUO they do a Winter Festival event. With a festive holiday tree. And holiday lights. And ugly holiday sweaters to collect. It's obviously christmas, but it's winter holiday/festival themed....sooo.... I hope for something like that. They made this into its own little thing, would be cool for something similar they make for winter.

Edited by VVhiteStone: 10/30/2015 4:40:01 AMPeople of all religions should be respected. Whether that be Christian, Muslim, Buddhist, or Islam. America may be made up of majority Christian religion over other religions but that doesn't mean we have to hate on those of other religions. There are many Muslim and Islamic and Buddhist Americans. I apologize if I have left your religion out. Just because they are of another religion doesn't make them any less American and it's certainly possible to celebrate Christmas, as either an atheist or Christian, without being offended by a Ramadan Festival in Destiny. What are guardians after all, if not different races of people with different views that come together against a darkness that threatens all of us. We need to put away our petty bigotries and accept each other for who we all are.

What's Ramadan?

I honestly don't believe you guys sometimes, Jesus died for your sins and you don't want him to help you shoot aliens in Russia?
Jesus would clearly be a Warlock btw, you know, self-res and all that.
This thread is just going to bring out more of the super edgy islamapobic trolls.

This is America, you act surprised that we prefer Christmas over Rhammalammadingdong.

Holiday Season Festival? Keep it simple
-
This is all I have on input of the matter. First off, I want to say I hold no opposition or favor towards either festival, although I'd probably prefer a Christmas one. With that being said, I feel like the Christmas festival is something more are accustomed to. Christmas has been something families celebrate regardless of religion. Ramadan is more of a minority (not in that sense lol) celebration so it's not as common as anything Christmas.

Snow Snow men Lol dress petra up like Elsa

I dont care about what religion anyone practices, but I will prevent the expansion of any religion in my country worshiped by those that would do me harm or threaten my free will. I have a right to live and believe in what I want, certain religions breed to many psychos that might be a minority, but there's such a thing as a big minority. I will strike any religious peddler down with death if they try to cause me harm, and nobody will stop me

In that case there are some nice Jewish holidays that we can make a festival out of. Because we Ramadan but not hanoka with a manora in the middle of the tower
-
Edited by PirateZack: 10/29/2015 8:12:07 AMYou should go to the Middle East and experience their "religion of peace" firsthand. If you aren't beheaded or step on an IED you might gain some insight. Ramadan doesn't offend me, but I will fight any attempt from Islam to interfere in our western customs.

I'm all about holidays not backed by religion like Halloween, New Years, Valentine's, 911
-
Christmas is for AMERICA. Go have Ramadan in your own country
-
Life Day would be a fantastic concept for an event!
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I'm scurrdd if islamies
-
I'm sure they celebrate xmas all over the world
-
How about fu.ck both? Religion is a man made excuse to go to war and try to take land. Spare me the bullshit about being tolerant.
-
Christmas is a pagen holiday originally if I remember correctly. Taken over by the Christians.
-
My guardian is always fasting...
-
Are we still pretending Christmas is a religious thing still? Who cares. If you don't wanna participate, visit the Reef for a week instead. Problem solved. Mericuh!
-
No religious holidays Winter festival ok Santa clause ok since he's a coca-cola invention
personally I would love to see all religions getting recognition everywhere and anywhere.
-
How about we let everyone have their faith, respect them for their decisions, and play the game? I really don't see why religion needs to be brought up and why we have to start acting like animals on the forum. Just be nice.

Festival of the Lost is a completely fictional holiday based on multiple real life holidays. If Bungie releases a winter holiday in the tower, you can expect it to be the same way. Why even make this a thing? It's going to be a fictional holiday if it's released. Just chill.
-
Let's go with a festival celebrated where bungie headquarters are. Then no one can cry.
