Holiday Festival Controversy
I was on the forums today and saw two posts specifically about holiday festivals in the Tower. There were two posts that generated quite a bit of controversy, one that called for a Christmas Festival and one that called for a Ramadan Festival.
After reading these posts I couldn't believe how hypocritical and backwards some people on the forums are. Most accept a Christmas festival but are absolutely offended by the mere thought of a Ramadan Festival.
Have we really fallen so far? Posting inappropriate phrases to bash the Islamic faith and making jokes about terrorism. It really is a shame.
Don't give me the cop out excuses of that Christmas is more commercialized and makes up the majority, those explanations are complete crap, not everyone wants to celebrate a holiday with Christian roots.
I for one don't even think that Destiny has any of the faiths we have presently. They praise the Traveler as their Savior and the Speaker is sort of the Pope to the people in a sense. I don't Christmas exists. I do, however, think that having a seasonal festival of some sort would be great

PS- for those that agree what do you think would be a good idea for a festival during the holiday season?

I wouldn't mind a generic winter celebration ya know? Snow in the tower, npcs giving gifts, maybe some Santa and elf hats (probably not but something along those lines) Can't think of what emotes Tess would have

The most likely won't do a "Christmas" festival since they didn't do a "Halloween" festival. I'm expecting a New Years Festival though [spoiler]or Xursmas[/spoiler]

2 RepliesI must say I despise the grind. Deleted my Destiny App days ago to only download again for this rant(forums). Zhalo supercrap sell it now they will put the disc back in(log in). Came from Halo 5 to only realize the butt hurt is real. Begin rant of what's wrong with destiny- No friendly fire, No clamber, No boost into cover, unbalanced pvp, bounties in pvp???(like really?), grind, no dedicated servers, lag, no 60fps, rehashed lvls for grind, patch this patch that, Destiny is still a beta for everyone, Go back to the tower for another gay candy bag every ten minutes, slide shotgun, horrible community, Bungie trolls its fan. I really want this game to be better that is all.

Bungie did it well: calling it "Festival of the Lost" instead of Halloween. I'm sure there be some sort of "Winter [i]Something[/i]" to encompass every holiday in one thing. I'm not going to say anything about condoning or condemning Ramadan posts because, really, who cares?

2 RepliesIdea for festival : Reggae festival Never bring a true religious holiday, such as Christmas into a game unless you only focus on the commercial or fantasy side, e.g Santa flying a sparrow pulled by thrall in front of the Traveller. Earning small gifts to fill a stocking(like the candy bag for halloween) that way nobody is offended, or they shouldn't be. 3 RepliesHas anyone noticed that we are celebrating the festival of the lost? Not Halloween. Yes the festival of the lost is based on Halloween but it's not Halloween. So if they decided to incorporate something like Christmas or Ramadan it would have a bungie spin on it.

Festival of Light - a time to celebrate our ghosts, the Traveller, and those who we protect. We gain the ability to donate Light to the Speaker for re-invigorating the Traveller. A fillable item like the Candy Bag gains progress with donations. In response, the "citizens" gift us with packages for our effort. (These packages pull from a RNG table made by locking out shaders and emblems you HAVE, to help get you what you DON'T. Add some SC's, WC's, maybe GN's and ToC, bamf! Holiday in universe

Nothing no festivals. This is why we can't have nice things. The negative/ignorant people that are unable to be tolerant of others enjoying something that they don't have, are the real Scrooges. I would like a Christmas event. It could be fun and interesting. I don't have an opinion about Ramadan one way or the other. I know nothing about it. It doesn't involve me so.... Whatever. Just give it a different name like winter fest or festival of light or the travelers arrival anniversary ;). It may ease the butthurt a little. I just think the whole argument is silly.

3 RepliesChristmas technically has pagan roots. A lot of it is based around the Winter Solstice. Christianity just pushed it so hard to convert pagans.

4 RepliesI absolutely think there should be a winter/new year festival. I don't think it should christmas or any other religious based festival. It's just too touchy of a subject and while I'm not one to tip toe around so no one's feelings get hurt I think it's more respectful to have an event without religious basis.

I'm not going to post my actual opinion due to I would get banned. Just throw a generic cheerful holiday in the December period and keep faith, beliefs and all that other bullshit out of it. We don't want to offend anyone now do we? If Ramadan actually happens I hope XUR sells a carpet and dried fruit the week before tho ;)

Hold up, why in your post did you state that only those voting for Christmas are being offended by those wanting a Ramadan festival, pretty much what I'm seeing is someone taking two controversial posts and is using them to insult one religion while completely ignoring the fact that the other party is also objecting to the others idea. You can't make yourself a neutral party unless you avoid insulting one party's opinion and not the others. Your post is backwards. (Although I do feel there should be a unreligious based holiday event or simply one that caters to all)

In DCUO they do a Winter Festival event. With a festive holiday tree. And holiday lights. And ugly holiday sweaters to collect. It's obviously christmas, but it's winter holiday/festival themed....sooo.... I hope for something like that. They made this into its own little thing, would be cool for something similar they make for winter.
