Final edit: This is regarding having a chance of getting no drops from hard mode. A lot of people, including myself, have gotten very frustrated with this to the point where we just don't want to play anymore.
PROOF THIS IS NOT A GLITCH AND SOMETHING WHICH IS INTENDED BY BUNGIE:
https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/169504792/0/0
It's not easy with a LFG team and after you spend a while fighting the boss, you get nothing or just normal mode loot. What's the point of doing it on Hard if you won't get loot anyway?
I've seen it all. Vault of Glass normal and hard, Crota's End normal and Hard, along with Prison of Elders. I've been through forever 29 but never complained about the rewards but this time I am as every other encounter gave you something every time.
Below is my original post.
Don't I just love it when I spend 20 min on a encounter only to get nothing? Last week it was nothing from sisters. This week, it was nothing from Golgoroth and I was the one who had the gaze. Whoever thought it would be a good idea to remove drops completely is a dumbass who deserves a slap to the face.
GIVE US GUARANTEED DROPS ON EVERY ENCOUNTER!
Just to clarify one thing, I'm not asking for straight 320 drops with perfect rolls. I'm just asking for drops. Now, with the variety of things you can get, you won't be done immediately. You get a drop, then it needs to be 320 and it needs desirable rolls.
For those of you saying "It has always been like this", it hasn't. I've been here since week one (Sign of Founders on my Hunter) and I'll tell you why. Before you got shards and / or energies. You could use those to upgrade your initial gear and make it more powerful. You got something out of it if you remembered correctly. Now, since you don't need ascendant materials to upgrade anymore, the equivalent could be seen as weapons or gear. You use high light stuff and upgrade your initial gear and make it more powerful.
If you do a normal raid and complete it, then do a hard raid, or just do a hard raid straight then you have the chance of getting nothing which has 310+ light until Oryx. What was the point of doing the previous encounters then if they don't guarantee you items? And it's not like this is infrequent. I didn't get anything from 3/5 encounters last week and 2/5 encounters this week. How is that fair?
Also, those of you calling me "entitled", I am entitled. I finished the activity therefore I earned the rewards. If you disagree with that then why not just remove loot completely from every activity?
Edit: 250+ replies. Let's keep going until Bungie sees this
Gecko 77 made a very good point:
Players should always feel like they are progressing. They should come out of the raid atleast one light level higher than when they started.
triplearod also made another very good point:
The main difference in VoG and Crota's End is all weapons were exactly the same so you had to only get them once, low drop rate is fine in that instance. Armor may have different stat roll but the maximum light was always the same
Now were not only rolling against the chance it drops, but its Atk/Def values, and its perks. Im fine with the variance as it makes the raid more replayable, but something should drop even if it is a 310 hallowed pieces of gear. Maybe that gear will have stats & perks I like and is worth infusing up.
Edit: RIP my notifications tbh

Edited by SnowblindOtter: 1/22/2016 4:27:15 AMEdit for spelling errors; I'm pretty ticked off as I'm writing this. I agree 100%. Today was my first time ever attempting a raid on Heroic, and I got up to the Warpriest without getting anything. Granted, I ran the Normal raid on the weekly reset, but I find it extraordinarily disheartening to participate in the raid when I'm not getting anything. Keep in mind that this is not just my first time doing Kings Fall on Heroic; I said a raid on Heroic. Up until now, I had never done a raid on Heroic when it was still relevant. This is the first time that I have ever attempted the hardest end-game content with the intent of seriously leveling my character, and I get nothing. I'm a highly casual player. I am perfectly happy playing probably only three or four hours a week, so to see no results from the hardest end-game content, why should I do it? In Trials of Osiris I have only encountered cheaters, so I am unable to get any loot and therefore I do not participate. I struggle through Iron Banner, and see everyone getting high-level gear without getting any myself despite reaching rank 4 so I don't participate in Iron Banner anymore. I was unable to rank up period in SRL, so after a week I simply stopped participating. If there is a mechanic that specifically is designed to prevent me from earning loot from the Heroic mode of King's Fall, then I don't want to participate in it, and if I don't want to participate in the hard-mode raid, then why should I bother playing the game at all? There are other activities with a higher reward potential that I can do beside playing Destiny, so the burden is on Bungie to make their game worth my time. It may be their game, but I am their consumer. I invested nearly four hours of play time into the raid. Getting nothing in return for spending literally an entire day playing your game is not a good way to keep consumer morale up, Bungie.

Signed and bump.

After playing through normal several times and only getting mouldering shards I was already annoyed but after getting only shards from the few checkpoints I've reached in hard mode I stopped playing. Seems crazy spending so many hours playing for no reward

What would be the point of playing if you just were handed everything? Name one looting game where you are 100% guaranteed to get something better than what you are using every time you do something.. There isn't one because it would be pointless.
-
Think about it. They want people to grind and get bored so they go buy black ops 3. Then around Christmas time, bungie will start rolling out updates to bring people back along with some emotes and some new dance moves and Mabey a small dlc expansion that cost $$$, it's just a giant marketing scheme from activision.
-
Lmfao, they want every single one of you to grind. Do you think they will change things now. Knowing all the new games out?

I agree with you 110% and also an annoyance for myself is getting smoldering shards from any boss in the ttk raid and on hard, it's unacceptable because of the communication and dynamics involved. And I'm right there with you being entitled. We've gone through and should be rewarded appropriately for our efforts.

How can I upgrade my character for oryx if I don't get any new gear from totems, golgoroth, and war priest ?
-
Bump.
-
Getting the same drop every week at each checkpoint and its worse then what you have equipped is getting pretty old as well, I've got 5 pairs of boots from Golgoroth. Had to make a new Titan to get a chest

Consider it...
SIGNED
I don't raid because I don't find the raid to be a fun experience. The fact that decent loot rarely drops doesn't really factor into it, but it doesn't help its cause either.
-
Finished hard on one of my characters and got two normal drops on hard mode.
-
What if it gave rewards based on your current light level so it always gave you at least one item that it higher then what you have equiped
-
This has been a thing in every raid. The only difference was that the other raids made you feel like you were getting at least something, no matter how useless, with the ascendant and radiant materials.

I have that happen on normal mode which is bad enough. I haven't done hard mode because I don't see the point. After I heard there are no elemental primaries I stopped with the raids all together. If you can beat the raid on hard and the only reward is possibly raising your light level a few more points then why. You just beat the raid on hard without it so its superfluous. I gave up on normal because I ran the whole raid and got some moldering shards to show for it. Kind of takes from the excitement when you're the equivalent of Charlie Brown getting a rock for Halloween.

Signed. I just love it when I get legendary marks from golgoroth
