Pay-to-win has come to "Destiny". As part of the Festival of the Lost, players can use silver to purchase Treasures of the Lost. This random package could include items that speed up weapons upgrades and glimmer farming. So, remember when Bungie said silver would only be used for cosmetic items? Well, they aren't.
Micro-transactions are a slippery slope. The community needs to keep Bungie from going down that slope. Make your voices hear. Raise a ruckus. Let the Bungie faithful assail your revulsion of micro-transactions and pay-to-win. Let them see your resolve. Until Bungie relents and goes back to making "Destiny" the game it should be, we hold the line.

These aren't cosmetic items only. They include consumables.
Edit: Keep responding. "STFO, "Never go full . . .", "You're an idot". It's all there already. Every reply bumps this post and keeps the pressure on Bungie to avoid going pay-to-win. And yes, I know some Guardians would love it if "Destiny" went pay-to-win and they could just buy a Gjallarhorn 3.0, but that's not the game I bought.

Consumables that expire when the event is over. That doesn't make this pay to win

I looked at the bounties, i dont even have these mask, how am i suppose to get the bounties done? Then i realize...

I would like to agree with you but being someone who studies game design and goes over data from other game companies the thing is... Micro-transactions are here to stay now that's not to say its good or bad.. because its all about how its implemented. The fact is their is outcry from communities but the big thing you need to look at is those people who outcry are actually the minority but they are the very vocal minority. In my opinion console games should stick with cosmetic only micro-transactions but can venture a bit further out as long as it doesnt become pay 5$ get 20 legendary marks then the people who are generally okay with micro-transactions start to move over to the other side. So far what bungie has done is emotes, masks, and in those mask packages you get little pieces of candy that act like black wax idols and items like it.. At this point its fine because lets be honest those pieces of candy are only useful for 2 weeks not long time and how easy are they to normally get... pretty easy... Im sitting on 160~ Blue polyphages and resupply codes and almost never use them... If it wasn't for turning in black wax idols and ether seeds for better things id have a huge stock pile of those as well. and not only that but you are guaranteed to get those candies if you try to collect all the rare masks without spending a single penny. And its been proven that micro-transaction models that follow this has worked.. it adds a bit more money into the developers pockets to use for better content because lets face it making big AAA games cost millions of dollars and unfortunately alot of people don't quite understand how much money is actually used when making a AAA game. But back to the point right now bungie is doing micro-transactions right because none of the stuff they are selling really helps in any way shape or form (except those candies but again already touched on that).... As long as destiny doesn't do what Pay-Day 2 did and start giving stats to its cosmetic micro-transactions then the model bungie is currently going with is fine and will make the game better in the long run. Just dont hate because its micro-transactions their are many different micro-transaction models and some suit a game more then others and so far bungie is doing fine with the current model that we can see.

Edited by Corliss-82: 10/27/2015 6:41:36 AMI find it how funny how people are upset at the truth. The keep defending Bungie till the last. I keep seeing these posts and people in them keep saying "don't get upset till..." but when that part happens their delusions just stretch further. They will defend Bungie till the end and continue to throw money at the screen like Luke Smith said. Why do you ask are people upset? Why do they care how others spend their money? They are upset because they are right. They don't give a hell about your money, they care because it will effect them eventually. Edit: I remember when you got cool stuff by playing a game. Now we're playing a ps4 version of farmville.

Begin Scene.... CEO of a VERY big news company: EVERYONE! STOP THE PRESSES! I JUST GOT WORD FROM A RANDOM GUY ON THE FORUMS THAT PAY-TO-WIN IS NOW IN DESTINY! Intern #1: But sir I play the game and its just some consumables and masks that do nothing. Plus the consumables only affect a in-game currency that caps very quickly. CEO of a VERY big news company: Who hired this idiot? Intern #2: You did sir. CEO of a VERY big news company: Both of you are fired, because I am never wrong and I NEED to complain about something irrelevant today. End Scene....

"Raise a Ruckus" about consumables that the equivalent is available to buy for glimmer (and has been since vanilla) and masks that have no defence properties whatsoever and actually reduce your light level?? Errrrr, no.
-
Oh no consuambles that were already in the game in other forms like telemetries and ether seeds! It's clearly pay2win! Y u do dis bungl?!?
-
Upgrade weapons faster... More glimmer on kills? Sounds like the items you collect in game for free. So what is your point?

Edited by Brokenspade: 10/27/2015 5:57:09 AMConsumables, That go away at the end of Halloween. Oh and most do exactly what ether seeds, resupply codes, black wax idols, and blue polyphages do already. ffs man, seriously. The jackolytes drop from hive enemies. And everything in the eververse store, except for the skull mask, can be grinded for... via Eva lavante. INCLUDING those consumables. All without paying a red cent.
-
....... wow... No.
-
The slippery slope is a fallacy.
-
Bitch bitch bitch bitch bitch. That's all I heard
-
[drops into a crucible match] [eats a bunch of candy, puts on Crota mask] Yeah! Let's do this! [shotgun to the nuts] [respawns] [sighs]

Oh no, consumable minimal TELEMETRIES THAT YOU CAN GET FROM BANSHEE. SO PAY2WIN. A new 24 hour effect for your spawn?! So -blam!-ing broken! EXOTIC ENGRAM HELMETS?! WHEN DID THIS GAME BECOME PAY TO WIN?!?!
( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
-
Haha pay to win. Its candy dude, lighten up
-
Satire
-
Lol oh no glimmer now no one will beat destiny unless they use the things from the packages. Oh wait they do the same thing as consumables that are in the game already...
-
Lol this is dumb you can get them all without paying, therefore, this argument is non existent
-
Like you don't have a million blue poly, ether seeds, resupply codes, and black wax idles. Relax, it's fun.
-
This guy
-
1. The consumables last two weeks max and 2. -blam!- off and stop telling people how to spen d their money you little bitch
-
This is just the beginning. I'm 100% sure now that there is more to come. At a huge scale. This is just testing the community response to the continued micro transactions. I didn't spend my initial silver so I bought these packages and with out them I can't complete any mission. Destiny's fanbase will be much like COD. Non existent

Motes of light are free, Just saying.

Wow the millionth person today to use that tired old slippery slope argument. Sooooo unique and intelligent
