Pay-to-win has come to "Destiny". As part of the Festival of the Lost, players can use silver to purchase Treasures of the Lost. This random package could include items that speed up weapons upgrades and glimmer farming. So, remember when Bungie said silver would only be used for cosmetic items? Well, they aren't.
Micro-transactions are a slippery slope. The community needs to keep Bungie from going down that slope. Make your voices hear. Raise a ruckus. Let the Bungie faithful assail your revulsion of micro-transactions and pay-to-win. Let them see your resolve. Until Bungie relents and goes back to making "Destiny" the game it should be, we hold the line.

These aren't cosmetic items only. They include consumables.
Edit: Keep responding. "STFO, "Never go full . . .", "You're an idot". It's all there already. Every reply bumps this post and keeps the pressure on Bungie to avoid going pay-to-win. And yes, I know some Guardians would love it if "Destiny" went pay-to-win and they could just buy a Gjallarhorn 3.0, but that's not the game I bought.

You disgust me

If you need glimmer farm consumables and upgrade boosters then you need to pay to win. I mean come on. I've had 25k since day. Don't every remember running out. Even when the great re-roll saga was around I could still farm glimmer with ease. And upgrade boosters are for people with no motes of light. It's hardly pay to win lol Get a grip
-
Are you seriously getting worked up about the fact that the items you speak of are the most common items in the game? Glimmer consumables, and weapon synth are easily the most common things in the game. If you need to buy them, you are doing something wrong. They aren't in there to make the game pay 2 win, they are in there to keep you from getting shit you want.
-
The consumables don't do anything but boost your ability to get masks or save you a bit of glimmer, not exactly pay to win ahaha.
-
Lol... all things you can get from the gunsmith for a few glimmer.
-
I'm not worried about upgrade speed items and glimmer items that are equivalent to what I already have stacks of hundreds of. Especially when they expire in a couple weeks.
-
There are identical free items. Get over it.
-
You need to take your foil hat off, or at best accept that including some glimmer earning/weapon +exp items isn't going to break the game at all. These are items that are A) Completely redundant to high level experienced players and B) Actually quite useful for people just starting up. This is a Halloween event and they probably wanted to include more fun things in the bags than just a single mask on it's own, that's not very interesting or in the spirit of the occasion. Rather than including re-skinned three of coins/motes of light or sparks of light they chose to just add these small items. I appreciate that I may eat these words if they start selling things like engrams/three of coins/strange coins etc, but just give them a bloody break. They dropped paid DLC for micro-transactions, micro-transactions that a lot of people will enjoy and happily buy. So they will essentially pay FOR YOUR expansions.

Wow game changer

Edited by ChaosForOrder: 10/27/2015 10:35:16 AMWho cares if there are items to speed up weapon/Armour leveling? Just use your motes of light, which you get for free.
-
does not buying these things effect your gameplay in a negative way Does it -blam!-
-
What are these folks winning when they pay exactly? Who has problems earning glimmer? I never use any of the glimmer boosts already in the game and I am always sitting at the glimmer cap. I have to buy ammo synth from the gunsmith, just so I can cash out at the cryptarch, when I go back to the tower. Nothing in Tess's store can be counted as pay to win...well, except for the Zombie dance emote. That emote is pure win
-
You get all that stuff anyway! Another toxic post
-
Stfu so pay to win on cosmetics?.... son you went full retard never go full retard.
-
But they also drop from other bags
-
I've only used telemetries for a quest and never used the glimmer ones. I always forget...
-
Ether seeds, black wax idols, blue polyphages, network keys (re supply codes or whatever they're called) drop all over the world and speed up glimmer farming. And you can buy weapon telemetries from the gunsmith at anytime now. And not just specific weapons like in Y1. And those only came from Xur. I wouldn't call the candies you get from the packages pay to win. In fact, you're an idiot if your buying the packages for things that are already in the game.
-
What is with all of these -blam!-ing idiots lately?
-
Can't we get those from the normal packs too? I'm confused. I'll check it out, see what she sells
-
Lol. And here we go.....
-
So, because the packages (that you don't have to buy) have a chance of containing consumables (that you can get elsewhere for free) with the same effect as items we already have, Destiny has become P2W? Bahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha, that's a good one!
-
Fact: these same items are available for free from Eva Levante. The only difference between the free and paid loot chest is that the paid comes with a legendary mask and has the paper glue as a possible drop. And, seeing as how glimmer is essentially useless at anything but the lowest levels, the pay-to-win argument has no ground upon which to stand. Engrams also drop it like it's hot, so you really don't have much of a reason to ever spend glimmer outside of more cosmetic items such as Sparrows and ships.
-
I mostly agree with ya. I'm thinking a little different about this though. We're getting "free" events and such from the silver purchases. It's make sense if in the future that any of these events use silver to keep the cycle going. It's not pay to win, more of a pay to participate. From what we can tell now, there's no major rewards for this, and there's nothing really to buy. So, even though I've been 100% against the implementation of silver, this is the type of bullshit event I expected. (It's fun collecting the candy and getting blue masks for the quests. Not paying into, and still doing good.)
-
Yes yes it's a slippery slope. Save your anger for if they sell armor or weapons.
-
What really?? Like the ones we already have with different names?? That I, for one, already have thousands of?! Bungie has screwed us! (Sarcasm) They don't do anything we don't have already and they dissappear.
-
Consumables that expire when the event is over. That doesn't make this pay to win
