Pay-to-win has come to "Destiny". As part of the Festival of the Lost, players can use silver to purchase Treasures of the Lost. This random package could include items that speed up weapons upgrades and glimmer farming. So, remember when Bungie said silver would only be used for cosmetic items? Well, they aren't.
Micro-transactions are a slippery slope. The community needs to keep Bungie from going down that slope. Make your voices hear. Raise a ruckus. Let the Bungie faithful assail your revulsion of micro-transactions and pay-to-win. Let them see your resolve. Until Bungie relents and goes back to making "Destiny" the game it should be, we hold the line.
Edit: From Reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/3qax5y/destiny_halloween_event_festival_of_the_lost/
These aren't cosmetic items only. They include consumables.
Edit: Keep responding. "STFO, "Never go full . . .", "You're an idot". It's all there already. Every reply bumps this post and keeps the pressure on Bungie to avoid going pay-to-win. And yes, I know some Guardians would love it if "Destiny" went pay-to-win and they could just buy a Gjallarhorn 3.0, but that's not the game I bought.

Consumables which already exist in the game and can be obtained quite easily.... Oh noes.

Edited by AnonPig: 10/27/2015 12:05:29 PMLet's see.... If I play one game of PvP I fill a bag, then I return it and receive void fizz, then I continue playing PvP for a total of 15 more games because that's what I want to do today, and I return each one how many void fizzes did I get assuming that's the only one I received. That's right! TOO -blam!-ING MANY, WHY THE -blam!- WOULD I USE THESE? MY GLIMMER HAS BEEN CAPPED SINCE THE BETA, MY WEAPONS ARE -blam!-ING READY. IT'S A FREE, SPACE WASTING, CONSUMABLE I'LL NEVER -blam!-ING USE AND LITTLE SHITS LIKE YOU HAVE THE AUDACITY TO COMPLAIN!?
-
They are reskins of in game items. Technically consumables are cosmetic even if the buff, which again is already in game, does anything non cosmetic
-
It takes about 15 motes of light to max out a weapon. Who uses telemetries any more. I've also got about 600 consumables for glimmer farming I'll never use. Maybe you should go play with yourself. I hear that's free.
-
Honestly who cares about the consumables right now we almost always have max glimmer and next to no need for exp boosts with how often motes drop. I could understand if this was day 1 of ttk plus you can get it all for free no need to spend money. If you want to spend the $$$ feel free its not like anyone is gaining any real advantage. Unless someone found a way to upgrade maxed out weapons.
-
Well this guy is dumb. Here are the possible contents of "Treasure of the Lost" Paper Glue x1 // Jackolyte x1 // Flight of Shadows x1 // Skull Mask x1 // Random Festival Candy x2 // Paper Scraps x1 Random Legendary mask. Totally pay to win, phaqin OP consumables. Seriously everyone knows that the Flight of shadows buff causes you to 1 shot people in the Crucible. And Jackolytes suppreses supers. Holy crap. Those 331 legendary masks tho.
#satire
"It was just the tip man, it's not like I took the whole dick" -Everyone defending the beginning of microtransactions
-
You get the same consumables for free by filling up your candy bag.... there is zero need to buy the bags.
-
I'm laughing my backside off at this point, recalling the defenders calling people idiots and believing that it would only be cosmetics. Stay tuned, defenders, more is on the way...reforge rolls, perhaps?
-
Most of these responders apparently cannot recognize the "just the tip "strategy. Smh.
-
Sniff sniff sniff ...............what that smell? O thats the stench of failure in this post.
-
U mean telemetries? Things that have been here since day one? I'm not impressed. Please, have a good constructive and intelligent conversation instead of arguing that redlined telemetries that will disappear by the end of the festival is pay to win.
-
Raisin consumables bro. Nuff said.
-
I think you are all missing the point. They lied to us again. They ruined the game.
-
Holy hell. You can't enjoy something that was put in the game for a fun spin on the normal grind? EVERYTHING that can be bought is also FREE just by playing the game with a mask on. Take your tinfoil hat off and slide a Petra mask on scrub.
-
OK, so in game there are glimmer consumables. How are re-skinned in-game free dropped consumables pay to win? XP gains are al ready in the game in the form of Focused Light. I didn;t hear this microtransaction garbage when red bull had 1 focused light per can purchased. How is the Festival any different. You can get all the items for free. candy sack = free. masks = free, quests = free content. Can you still play the game, get to level 40 and play all end game content without buying anything at Eververse? Can you do all this stuff without participating in a free event, that gives you free stuff if you wear a free mask, and collect free candies, then trade in your free candies for a free loot sack, full of free stuff? So far I had 2 legendary masks without buying anything at eververse. Get a grip dude
-
My weapons get upgraded to max almost instantly with motes. And I have dropped below 20k glimmer since ttk dropped (except that one time where I spent all my glimmer on black spindles for infusion, but without trying I was back to max again in a couple of days).
-
Lol, who exactly is 'winning' with these things? They are practically worthless, and are just amusing, halloween version of existing consumables.
-
Yes it still is a slippery slope, but honestly those consumables are simply alternate items that are already in the game.....for free. Nothing pay to win about it friend.
-
Time limited consumables which are already out in a different form before the payable stuff. Ex: black wax and telematrys.
-
All of the weapon upgrade and glimmer farming items can be obtained through filling the candy satchel and turning it in for treasures of the lost. The ones you buy with silver just come with a few more cosmetic items and the consumables.
-
Those Halloween Consumables are versions of the most common consumables in the game. Also these Halloween consumables expire at the end of this event.

Edited by DoSGamingNetwork: 10/27/2015 9:25:31 AMUnfortunately no one will ever listen. Bungie has made a fortune today off of people purchasing those boxes trying to get the blue skull mask. People will keep buying whatever Bungie wants to sell. I see real pay to win items coming to Destiny very soon not just these small things. I mean people are paying 700 silver for a dance and don't realise that things like these should be free. I mean we are $130+ dollars into this game yet Bungie wants us to pay $7.00 more for a dance?! C'mon people wake up! It has nothing to do with being poor or not able to afford the dance. It's the audacity of Bungie to even ask us to pay for things they should be giving us in appreciation of the money and support we've already given them. Edited for a misspelled word.
-
I have maxed glimmer all the time, and over 400 consumables that give you extra glimmer.
-
Yea but this is only until November 9th
-
You disgust me
