Pay-to-win has come to "Destiny". As part of the Festival of the Lost, players can use silver to purchase Treasures of the Lost. This random package could include items that speed up weapons upgrades and glimmer farming. So, remember when Bungie said silver would only be used for cosmetic items? Well, they aren't.
Micro-transactions are a slippery slope. The community needs to keep Bungie from going down that slope. Make your voices hear. Raise a ruckus. Let the Bungie faithful assail your revulsion of micro-transactions and pay-to-win. Let them see your resolve. Until Bungie relents and goes back to making "Destiny" the game it should be, we hold the line.
Edit: From Reddit https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/3qax5y/destiny_halloween_event_festival_of_the_lost/
These aren't cosmetic items only. They include consumables.
Edit: Keep responding. "STFO, "Never go full . . .", "You're an idot". It's all there already. Every reply bumps this post and keeps the pressure on Bungie to avoid going pay-to-win. And yes, I know some Guardians would love it if "Destiny" went pay-to-win and they could just buy a Gjallarhorn 3.0, but that's not the game I bought.

You're saltier than my salty engram.

I can't decide between (get rekt) or (git gud) anyone help?

Edited by BigDestinyScope: 10/28/2015 6:14:37 AMWhy is this post here? Hahaha
-
Motes of light are so much easier to use. And you get instant xp. And they're free. Barely anyone even uses glimmer anymore. Are you upgrading a green weapon?
op is fgt
-
These consumables r just Halloween theme u can get these for free from filling your sack or get the unhalloween version from the gunsmith and from killing yellow bars this is not paid to win
-
that moment when pleb op realizes they can get the same items from packages.
-
What do you win with the event expiration consumables? Can buy telemetries and get glimmer from ghosts or regular consumables.
-
Get lost.
-
Did not realize having some XP boosts were classified as pay to win. Oh shit you upgraded your guns 25% faster your so op. Change your click bait title to destiny may become pay to win instead of your subjective point of view that makes zero sense.
-
Can't you get those same consumables in 1 or 2 crucible matches?
-
I like how one person a while back mentions the fallacy "slippery slope" in relation to destiny becoming pay-to-win and suddenly everyone is an expert on logical fallacies.

Edited by Elundis Core: 10/27/2015 4:48:52 PMThis will be around for a week. And don't forget that the events like this are made possible by micro transactions. So mow your damn lawn and sit the hell down.
-
Pay to win for sure. Let me spend my money to get masks that make my character lower. But it'll help me win because they have tons of intellect...wait they have nothing...so they are just cosmetic still? Man that makes no sense. Wait it isn't pay to win. But you'll find something to cry about. Keep making me laugh kid
-
Just so you know the candies only last till Nov 6th so if you wanna pay tons of money to have something for a week cool I guess but definitely not pay to win I will keep my raisins forever
-
You can get the same shit from actualy playing. Non of this is "pay to win". Glimmer consumables=already in game Wepons upgrade consumables=already in game. So where is this pay to win you speak of?
-
ZOMG! Those consumables cost like 5 weapon parts at the gunsmith....you think ppl would rather spend 5 bucks than 5 weapon oarts? Thats your arguement right now.
-
The festival of the lost was made possible with the inclusion of microtransactions, so I'm all for them if we can get interesting events like this, hopefully we will get thanksgiving and Christmas events just like this one. ( and let's all be honest, thriller dance is killer)
-
Their not selling weapons or armor. Just little consumables that don't even affect gameplay.
-
What if I'm not offended by it? What do I do then?
-
Oh no. How dare those darn companies try to sell me stuff. Call the police. Dispatcher: "911. What's your emergency?" DeusFever: "... (Sob)... Ughh Why?!" Dispatcher: "Sir, please try to remain calm and speak clearly so that I may assist you. What's your situation?" DeusFever: "....(Sob)... (Sniff)... OH GOD. Okay. Okay... (Sniff) I was playing my video game... And and and (sniff) they tried to make me...They tried to make me BUY something with money but I don't HAVE any money and... Aaa- WHY?!!" Dispatcher: "Sir who was coercing you? Are they still there? Have you been robbed?" DeusFever: "BUNGIE! They tried to SELL me Trick or Treat masks for my (sob) make believe character and..." Dispatcher: "Sir, this line is for emergencies only." DeusFever: "... Shhhh! I think... OH GAWD! It's in the mail! THEY'RE IN MY MAIL!" Dispatcher: "Sir, If this is not a true emergency then I need to hang up with..." DeusFever: "Oh FAWK!! Home Depot! They just mailed me a COUPON for 20% off my next total purchase... BUT I DON'T EVEN LIKE HOME DEPOT!!!" Anyways you get the picture. You're a ridiculous person. The end.

If they sell a crazy overpowered weapon that is only obtainable through a silver transaction then it will be pay to win. Don't think that will happen ;)
-
OMG im buying telemetry for real money!!! Now watch me go solo Oryx and get 25k glimmer from him just because i have some candy!! 1337 MLG Pay2Win
-
So because you can get what are essentially Halloween versions of the weapon telemetries you can buy from the Gunsmith, and Halloween-themed Glimmer Consumables--not to mention these are limited-time items--it's some great omen that the game will inevitably become pay-to-win? I think you're wearing your tinfoil hat a little too tight there.
-
if you dont have a metric shit tonne of consumables for glimmer then you have been failing at the game. Even if you dont have weapon boosts you should have so much glimmer ones to buy the damn weapon boosts. Besides these event boosts can be achieved out of the candy bags which take all of 10 minutes to fill up and they disappear at the end of the event, I havent bought any ive already to start burning them because I have more than enough. This isnt even close to pay to win.

Overreaction theater folks!

They dissapear when the festival ends...
