The mechanic is still there, you can deal with it by either killing the knights or detonating the bombs before they get there. Either case the mechanic of the knights trying to steal the bombs is still present. I'm fairly certain you could also distract the knights as well. All 3 methods are valid for dealing with the mechanic.
