First off, I want to state that I've played Destiny since the beta and I'm the founder of a Destiny clan composed of about 260 members. I'm not the casual player that complains about everything.. but I need to make this point across because I've invested a lot of time into this game and I don't want to see it fail.
Destiny is being driven into the ground. With the announcement of no elemental primaries, that alone killed my motivation to stop the endless grind. However, that isn't the only issue. Raid drops are completely unfair and almost pointless.
For me and a lot of other players, elemental weapons were earned so that other activities such as Nightfalls would be easier. It's been a standard since Year 1 and to remove it now is almost a slap in the face. Having a wide variety of weapons to play from instead of just a few raid weapons is completely understandable but there has to be a median.
Raid loot drops on the other hand is HUGE issue. Not only are the drops random, but having the level of that gear being random as well is terrible system. You can't have a team doing the same amount of work and have one guy get 320 boots, have another get the same boots but 311 and have that poor unfortunate guy get 2 shards. Not only does this create demotivation and saltiness, it creates elitism in the forums. You see it even now, "Must be 315+, etc". After playing Hard Mode yesterday, I understand why that might be the case but having everything depend completely on RNG is a huge mistake.
Here are my two ideas for fixing these issues:
1) If there are no more raid elemental primaries, then have raid bosses drop a new "burn" consumable that lets you infuse an elemental burn into any legendary weapon. Boom, you get your wide variety of weapons but they still have to work for that consumable.
2) Have all raid gear from normal drop at 310 and all raid gear from hard drop at 320. Take moldering shards out of the table entirely.
Voicing my opinions and a lot of others from my clan/forums, we didn't want you guys to extend this game to a slow grind. That's not fun and it will start driving players away from this game. If you agree, please give this a bump so that it can be seen.
