I would like to think the designers knew the community would find alternative ways to defeat oryx and other bosses in the raid then the one specific way they intended. Granted pushing the boss off the edge isn't not one of those ways. However planing when to eliminate certain targets seems like a completely legitimate strategy.
Kudos to the ones who created these strategies. I would love to see more come out of the oryx fight. It will only give the developers better feedback for creating better raids in the future.

Yeah its interesting. I wonder if bungie even thought of this strategy. Because otherwise the Knights would spawn anyway (From what ive seen they dont).

They do, I even heard Knight swing on one of the videos, when one guy stood in the orb.

Almost seems like people would rather buy a game that plays itself, that way it's done the way "it was intended".

A puzzle can have multiple ways to solve it. The reason destiny is as good as it is is because they don't force you to go a linear path.
