That is a cheese yes. But this isn't despawning anything. It's simply out thinking the fight and the mechanics. Same thing happened with Crota's End when they switched from left side strat to middle strat. People back then also complained about it being a cheese, but Bungie never fixed it cause they recognized that it was clever. This kind of thinking should be admired not shunned.
