So the Exotic Quest lines in the Taken King are pretty interesting. They make certain weapons readily obtainable by bypassing RNG. That said, they are actually hurting the game to a degree. These quests typically require the player to enter PvP for one or more quest steps. This means what they do will have an immediate impact on other players. That said, these people are going into PvP with a specific game plan.
For example: The "Chaperone" exotic quest requires people to get Kills with "The Last Word" in Crucible. This in itself is not an issue, as the gun itself is still pretty decent. THE ISSUE is that dying in Crucible causes the quest to backtrack. The result of this is that people actively sneak around and camp for the sake of not losing progress. The ultimate result being a detriment to teammates and being a nuisance to enemies.
So here are a few ideas to fix that:
Chaperone Quest: Remove progress-loss from First part of bounty.
First Curse Quest: Replace kill sprees with just kills and precision kills. Currently encourages camping and sniping.
Sword Reforged: Create special sword-oriented playlist for this. Currently players have to either camp at heavy spawns or slap enemies with an empty blade hilt.
Remember: Skill can be faked; Fun cannot.
