America is a form of social democracy with a regulated capitalist economy.
If the US were a purely capitalist society there would be no public schools, no Social security, no Medicare, no veterans administration, no workers comp, no park systems....not even public water systems.....you get the idea, nothing owned and operated by the citizens. Everything would be privately owned and operated by wealthy share holders and available on a fee for service basis and priced beyond the means of 25% of the population. That's what a pure Capitalist society would look like.
That's not what we have, but that's what the far right wants which is why they push to privatize everything.
We live in society with a regulated capitalist economy in which citizens, collectively, provide social services for fellow citizens through the democratically elected government. A Democratic Socialist form of government just like all the prosperous western societies.
The far right would have us believe that services provided by the government are somehow un-American when, in fact, the concept is enshrined in the preamble of the constitution:

A few things: 1) equal treatment is not the best treatment - tons of Danes with Cancer actually fly to the US to be treated. 2) everyone doesn't have the same needs - a college athlete couldn't get a knee surgery done so he could play sports because that money could be better spent saving a young boys life 3) single payer system removes competition which leads to an increase in prices and a decrease in innovation 4) Denmark is going to go broke in the next 50 years at their current rate Free college: America is already in a shit ton of debt not sure how he can pull that off without taking 50-60% of Americans income like they do in Denmark Create jobs: These are temporary jobs that will cause a large unnecessary increase in gov spending for a short term decrease in unemployment that will serve no benefit or purpose 20 years from now Social security: Already so broke it wouldn't be able to pay for the majority of things promised to the generations on this site. So ya dump more money into it... More paid vacation and sick time: Not sure how he thinks you can double minimum wage AND pay people these wages for doing nothing AND expect companies not to lay off a good portion of their employees AND for not all small businesses to crumble under the higher costs I'll slowly expand this

Honestly I want Burnie to be elected because he seems like the most realistic politician I've seen in my short 21 years of life. He is definitely for the people.
