I am in a similar situation, I didn't delete my sword but I messed up and picked a duplicate sword on my third character and put the second one in the vault. Used the sword on a different character by mistake and now the third character is not being offered the exotic sword quest. They should give you an option to start the entire sword quest over once per account. IMO
