I am in a similar situation, I didn't delete my sword but I messed up and picked a duplicate sword on my third character and put the second one in the vault. Used the sword on a different character by mistake and now the third character is not being offered the exotic sword quest. They should give you an option to start the entire sword quest over once per account. IMO

I don't know. Like I said there are a few factors, I accidentally got two of the same kind. 2 arcs, maybe it won't let you get 2 exotic swords of the same type.... I did use it on a separate character... I don't know. I can't find anything online saying anything about problems like that.

No. In fact, if you unlock the exotic quest on a character that already has it active for another sword you can actually skip the Crucible step. Assuming you've already done the Crucible step for that first sword of course.

No worries. I deliberately did all three exotic quests on one character, void and arc even at the same time. If you'd mess something up by transferring your sword between characters I'd have known. :P
