So Luke Smith revealed recently that there will be no elemental legendary primaries in Y2 due to them usually taking away from other good kinetic legendaries. Now while some of you may disagree with this I do believe I have an interesting way that we could gain elemental primaries. What if we could buy an item from Xur that could be used on our Primary Kinetic Exotics to make them more exotic with a new elemental type? Basically this is how it would work: Xur would sell one of three materials each week for your kinetic exotic (one for each elemental damage type). Once you bought this item you could use it much like you did with the legendary sparrow engines he sells to give the element to the exotic primary in your primary slot. [b]Requirements:[/b] -The exotic must be a primary. -The exotic must be kinetic (no you won't be able to give another Element to the Zhalo Supercell or the old raid exotics). -Your character must be lvl 40. -You must have the item in your inventory (the item will take up one slot and can only have one stack). [b]The Pros:[/b] -Would make Xur more useful. -By giving a certain primary exotic an element we are putting our own fingerprint on the weapon we are making it unique and we are becoming part of its story. -It will make your primary feel more exotic. [b]The Cons:[/b] -Might potentially cost a lot of strange coins. -If Xur is RNG it may be weeks (if not longer) to see him finally sell the elemental consumable you want for your primary. -Could make you feel less likely to use an exotic from a different slot or to use legendary primaries. -Perhaps it feels a bit too easy to give your weapon a unique element. Of course one solution to the last con would be to make it that the item you buy from Xur is incomplete and that you must perform some sort of quest out in the wild to make the consumable ready for use. This quest could also be restricted to once per character causing players to carefully decide which exotic primary they want to give the element. So are there some upsides and downsides to this idea? Yes. However, it could be a unique way of making us feel more legendary and our exotics feeling more exotic.
