I'm not sure how you managed to press the wrong button, not hear the equip sound, and hold the dismantle button on the legendary without noticing anything was wrong. Still, that sucks. They should really give the option to redo the quest if a legendary kiosk would be too much.

He might be on Xbox 360. The equip sound often is delayed, and he might have had a trash loading screen time. Happens all the time, I dismantled my Infinite Lines Cloak from a FWC package, and it had some great perks.

I'm on 360 and it's never delayed unless the whole thing is delayed, and it's impossible to dismantle something that isn't showing up in your inventory. I've never accidentally dismantled anything...
