Do you have Historical importance
I was thinking about all the viral and historical events that happened around the wold and wondered: who in the Offtopic community were a part of it or witnessed big events?
So tell us your story, Offftopic, it could be past or present, ranging from marching on Washington to surviving a school shooting. Or just being in the crowd of the Baltimore riots, nothing is too small!
Edit: Would prefer it to be truthful, but I guess I could laugh at some of your fables :p

Big events? I was merely just in my mother's womb during the war between Kosovo and Serbia. If my Mom died, I died too. They ran for god knows how long. We were even in the newspaper once. Born and raised in Canada though. <3 Canada.

10 RepliesAlright, stay with me, this could be a long story now. It all started back in the late 50s. I had some issues running as a child, so I was bullied. My good friend and later wife helped me, and eventually I overcame my disabilities to become a football star. After college I enlisted and fought in Vietnam. I returned a changed man, I had won a Medal of Honor, but at the cost of my best friends life. I experienced the Civil Rights Movement, and the age of the hippies. I went into the shrimping business with my old commander from the army. We both became multimillionaires, and I never have to work again. I now have dedicated my life to raising my son. So yeah, I'm involved in a bit of history.

1 ReplyI was in the first gulf war and rode in the back of a Bradley Fighting Vehicle from Saudi Arabia through Iraq on into Kuwait. I was in Germany when the Berlin Wall came down and east and west reunited. I was in Orange County California during the L.A. riots. I could see the smoke from all the fires burning. I lived in Alaska and have experienced earthquakes. I've seen the northern lights.

Was in Operation Moshtarak in Afghanistan. It was the Afghan equivalent of fighting in Ramadi/Fallujah. Also fought in Sangin with the Brits during its worst times.

I make it a point to be present at important events, but I can't reveal most of them. The birth of a child...an exchange of money...a memory forgotten... But I did enjoy the Roman era. A grand old time for humans. An honest period for our species.
