There is no variety. This is such a dumb argument. They are currently doing everything in their power to limit the amount of weapons people use (infusion as it is, weapon parts nerf), yet Bungie acts like they support diversity.
Hypothetical scenario, you have a 310 weapon you love using. You get a 280 weapon from gunsmith you're interested in. Are you gonna give up the resources required to see how it is at end game pve? Lol. No. That's why you see very little weapons as is, especially in the raid. They don't support diversity; they are ACTIVELY trying to convince people they do though.
(Just like crucible isn't balanced at all, but they are doing everything they can to convince people it's balanced)

I would because those resources should be readily available. Otherwise I'm hoarding marks, high level blues, and weapon parts for no reason.

It's still early for people to have resources for other primary's. But getting a 280 to 295-300 is easy if you have been banking 295+ blues. 300 LL Gives you a really good level to start playing around with it. Then one or 2 raids later infuse it up with the shitty hand cannon you are bound to get. Hung jury is the top gun because it's easy, but the raid scout, treads upon stars, and last extremity, Are all very good base weapons. Get a good roll and use that.

If you wanna use a weapon on hard raid, you need 310 (basically). To get something to 310, you need quite a bit of resources. You could EASILY not get enough light level from 1-2 raids to get something from 280 to 310...

You can do a strike with it fully leveled to find out if it's worth using. It's all about how it handles, what scopes, basically if you are comfortable shooting with it. Then infuse it up above 300

I love using supercell in strikes. Works great. What about in hard raid at oryx? Yeah. Not good lol.
