First mission for the next Vex expansion:
A solo mission where you are to investigate a new, massive, Vex structure that has appeared overnight on Mars. The spire looks inactive and empty but as you approach, your radar starts going crazy. Ghost tells you to run as dozens of Vex materialize around you. It was all a trap set up by the Vex to capture a Guardian for study. You are separated from your Ghost and have a very real chance of actually dying. The last mission objective is 'SURVIVE'. Eventually the Majors and Ultras are too much to handle and you die. Cutscene plays. The Stranger ports in, grabs you, and ports out. She reunites you with your Ghost and as you recover, you realize that A) you're in a Vex structure filled with non-Vex tech and B) you're not alone with the Stranger. The Stranger introduces you to the other figure in the cave, Osiris. He then begins to tell you about a new Vex threat that is emerging.
First mission for the next Fallen expansion:
Tower gets a sketchy SOS transmission and they can't tell who sent it but it has traces of the Light all over it. Must be Guardians. Your mission is to break through the Cabal force surrounding their position and rescue them.The Guardians are holed up in a building sniping encroaching Cabal but you can't really see them since they seem to be cloaked. You fight across this no man's land avoiding the crossfire as you work your way into the building.
You enter the building. Cutscene. Eventually you get to the room the Guardians are hiding in but only find a bunch of Fallen. Your fire team is about to gun them down but pause when you realize that the Vandals and Dregs put their guns down. A Captain, their leader, appears from the crowd, walks forward and creates an Orb of Light, not Ether, in his hand. The Traveler has begun giving certain Fallen (players, mostly) access to the Light again. Fallen are now the fourth playable race and they introduce a new subclass. The Captain becomes the Vanguard trainer next to Cayde, Ikora, and Zavala. Playable Fallen are not called 'Fallen' but use their original name 'Eliksni'.
Misc. mission near the climax of Destiny 1
A mission where you're sent to a bunker atop a mountain to fix/enable/reinforce Rasputin so he may gain full control of his doomsday weapons. Team is unsure if it worked but they need to protect the bunker they're in until they seal Rasputin's chamber. Hive start coming out in droves. Objective is to survive for X amount of time. Near the end, the yellow bars are overwhelming and it's getting harder and harder just getting a shot in. Cutscene. All hope is lost as the Hive seem endless. You're badly hurt and your Ghost is doing his best to patch you up but it's looking grim.Then, out of nowhere, lasers rain from the sky with surgical precision annihilating everything except the three Guardians. Rasputin plays one of his songs. From that point to the end of Destiny 1, Rasputin assists you with heavy fire power from the skies and intel.
