I've played since launch and havent been starved on weapon parts untill now, so thats a pretty lame argument - obviously the rate of usage has changed

and what are/were we able to use weapon parts on? reforging? faction rep?

Agreed, the issue back then was the material for the upgrades, not the weapon parts.
