Actually Thats subjective. The darkness swallows anything in its pursuit of the traveler. The warminds cannot fully destroy the existence of the dark. But if we never found the traveler, wed have never lost all of the warminds. So when crota came to reclaim his right to appease his father who's to say the warminds wouldn't have protected us. Etc

But the warminds were a product of the golden age, of the travelers advancement. No traveler=no warminds

I forgot to put that So I guess we needed the traveler to fight crota and the vex because they would visit our realm.at some point
