What do you think of the theory the Dregen Yor consumed a Hive worm, and that is what corrupted him and turned him evil?

I don't believe that is true. You saw what happened when cute little Aurash consumed a worm. I think the Darkness merely corrupted him, as in GF: Darkness 4

Edited by Clockwork Legend: 10/23/2015 1:04:59 AMI see your GF Darkness 4 and I raise you GF Thorn 2 specifically this
[u.2:5.0] I've seen nightmares. [u.2:5.1] They live in the shadows. [u.2:5.2] They've been watching. [u.2:5.3] I thought...It's foolish, I know...but I thought I saw a way. [u.2:5.4] That maybe we could win. Maybe we could survive. [u.2:5.5] But once you step into those shadows, it's so very hard to walk in the Light. [u.2:5.6] Or...maybe I just wasn't strong enough. [u.2:5.7] Maybe. [u.2:5.8] But I feel strong now. [audible sobbing] [u.2:5.9] I stole the dark. [u.2:6.0] Or, maybe it stole me. [u.2:6.1] Either way, here we are. [u.2:6.2] And I'm hungry. [u.2:6.3] Its hungry. [u.2:6.4] You have no Light beyond the spark of your pathetic life. [u.2:6.5] But a spark is something.
We know that the worm offered symbiosis with the Amanites but were rejected. Its possible that the worms offered the same deal to Dregen. I think that its possible that the noble man is referring to the worms and that it was one on Xyor's brood hence the name change. In addition we know that Dergen Yor talks on a few occasions about being special and what that means. I think this is directly related to the Ahamkara/Worms (who are somehow linked...but Im not sure how) ability the enhance ego. I know that there isnt a ton of evidence but these things make me lean in that direction. edit 1: I think Oryx's transformation was more due to both his king morph, eons of evolution and hive rituals.
