The traveler didnt BRING the darkness here.
Traveler was running from it, we found it in mars, it mived to earth to give us a golden age, darkness came and the traveler was about to run. Rasputin crippled it with midnight exigent making sure it stayed here to help us protect ourselves.

Midnight exigent was the protocol to save everything from the darkness. I didnt say it was the weapon. Go watch the intro to the vanilla game. Or the alpha trailer... And it didnt try to use is to fight its enemy. There was no enemy at first. We found it, had a golden age of technological advances, and then the darkness crept up, cabal attacked, fallen swooped in and vex came out of the underground. And the traveler isnt dead. Its on backup power till the guardians either kill the darkness or find a way to bring the light back to it. If people want to claim its evil, thats their choice. But half of them are only voicing that opinin because the see half assed youtube videos using outdated material and calling it factual. YES THE TRAVELER WAS SUPPOSED TO BE EVIL. Which is ludicrous anyway since througout the entire story the traveler has been inanimate. Meaning you cant judge its actions. "It knew bad things will follow it" It wouldve happened eventually! Oh hey lets just forget about the entirety of the golden age and all the good this thing did because some CRAZY OUTSIDE ENTITY chose to look thru the solar system for it. It gave humanity a golden age. I didnt say anything past that about it being good. It was supposed to be evil. They reworked it and literally changed EVERYTHING and then came flat out and said it was good when people starting making youtube videos like the one op referenced. Idk if its good or bad. Its not alive/awake yet. I have no way to tell. Nobody does.

Actually Thats subjective. The darkness swallows anything in its pursuit of the traveler. The warminds cannot fully destroy the existence of the dark. But if we never found the traveler, wed have never lost all of the warminds. So when crota came to reclaim his right to appease his father who's to say the warminds wouldn't have protected us. Etc

Look it up in the grimoire. All the rasputin cards talk about abhorrent portocols to preserve human life in the face of extinction. (Carrahae white, etc) Midnight exigent is the protocol to ensure rasputin lives, as well as every human under his protection. He did it by crippling the traveler and forcing it to stay and fight. Rasputin put out the ikelos protocol items as a means to arm the populace to fight what was coming. And the traveler and darkness cards tell you about the darkness and how it constantly chases the traveler.
