I thought the worms started all ,don't they control the hive and even oryx !!

They don't control them. The worms grant the hive prolonged live and feed on their ambitionsin exchange. This way the hive have to improve constantly. You could say the darkness brought some kind of golden age to the hive, it's vastly different from the travelers version though. As for who started it: there was a natural disaster that caused massive gravitational waves to destroy the region where the hive originated from. IIRC the worms said the traveler caused it to destroy them, while the traveler said it was a lie by the worms the deceive the hive in order to make them join forces with the worms. As in the original post stated: good and evil are relative. Who knows which side speaks the truth.

The worm gods are the ones who control both the Hive and Ahamkara. They started the Hive's galactic genocidal campaign, and whatever they are using the Ahamkara for, I'm not really sure. Perhaps they meant for the Ahamkara to teach aid us in fighting the Hive, so that even the Hive would eventually be extinct, causing the "perfect galaxy" they are trying to attain.

I wasn't trying to explain [i]what[/i] they are, I was trying to show that they [i]started[/i] the war with the darkness, as they control (less directly and more through a combination of a broad rule and strong suggestion i.e. they [i]must[/i] kill, and they suggest by eliminating all species) the Hive. As well as the Ahamkara but we don't know how or for what purpose exactly.
