There's no misunderstanding with the fallen. They were once a united species until the traveler came, and left. When the traveler left, it did so in a hurry and without defending the species that it asked to defend it. Now the fallen are divided into several houses, have no home, and have (as their name suggests) fallen from greatness. Even if the traveler was just going around giving free tech that doesn't make it good if everywhere it goes it brings death, destruction, and strife in its wake. Furthermore, where does it get the tech? Ever heard, "there ain't no such thing as a free lunch?" How would you feel if our tech was made from Fallen slaves of the traveler? Or taken from the fallen when it deserted them? Plus our guardians don't even have free will. We get revived from the dead, get told to do defend an entity (that has a history of desertion) with our new lives, and they just do it. Without question none the less. I'm not saying it's evil, but if you think it's good than you're just blind.

  • There's more than 2 sides here, I think. I'm not saying fight for the hive. I actually want to team up with the stranger.

  • Guardians totally have free will. Look at the Sunbreakers who do what they want, Osiris, Toland, Dredgen Yor, even Shin Malphur is describe as being a "renegade hunter."

  • Osiris was banished for his actions, as far as I know. Free will isn't do what I say or get the hell out. And the others all fought the darkness for the traveler, again, as far as I know. Sounds like you've read more of the grimoire than I have.

  • When I get into something I go all in. Osiris, Toland, and Dredgen Yor all did what they were expressly forbidden to do, and Toland and Yor both lost their Light because of it.

  • There were houses before the traveler left and the great whirlwind took place. Doom of Chelchis: Where is the great machine? Where is the great machine? -Chelchis, Kell of Stone

Damn, imagine going to the tower one day and notice the traveler isn't there and the darkness comes and kill everything, feel sorry for the fallen "eliksni".

  • In someway he's good but not pure good since his intentions is to use the races he finds to defeat the darkness. From what I've read everytime the darkness reaches him and he sees the race can't defeat it then he moves on. Each time he moves on it hopes that the darkness start to get weaker.

  • Yes, neither darkness or traveler are good, the traveler would have left if not for Rasputin stopping it, read earlier grimoire someone linked, and although the darkness has definitely done worse things, neither side really fights for good. Another thing I noticed is that It seems as though the worms from the book of sorrow will eventually kill their hive hosts after they have taken over the universe and then they will be the only power left. Based of course on the hive philosophy of kill until you are the last standing. The one thing oryx never though about is if he is the most powerful then why doesn't he kill his worm?
