Everyone take off your tinfoil hats, this is what really happened. Ok the traveler didn't make a final stand here. Rasputin attacked it and crippled it because it tried to flee when the fallen caught up. It didn't intentionally bring the darkness here it was followed.

Yes and no. It obviously knew it was being followed because Oryx has personally chased it across the universe and wiped out pretty much everything it left behind... So it had to of know. Which is why it attempted to flee.
