This is not a good enough reason to reduce the number of parts we get. It's like reducing worldwide food production because a few have too much food, while some are starving. Stupid.
further adjustments may be in order?
This is not a matter of if adjustments are in order, it is a matter of adjustments are needed. No one thought they had too many parts and wanted to have less.
Bump until Bungie clearly get the message.
Edit: We're trending, gw people. Keep up the bumping. Make your own post on the issue. Whatever we have to do to make sure that every time a Bungie employee checks the forums, the first thing they lay their eyes on is a "weapons parts issue" post.

And that Biznatch Eris wants 50(!) for the ToM quest?!
-
I have no fukin idea who at Bungie thought this was a good idea ... First Bungie comes along and says "hey you, guardian, yeah you, the one who has been using NOTHING BUT FATEBRINGER .. in the next expansion we want you to try out all the different guns we've made available to you, ya know, maybe change up your load outs as you go through different parts of the game" Me ... ok Bungie, Game On!! So I aquire a few new Scouts, few new Hand Cannons, a few AR's etc ... start using them but then realize I cannot truly understand their full potential until I completely upgrade these weapons! So I go on a weapon parts spending spree, upgrading nearly every new gun I get in order to see if Bungie has put anything good into the new meta! now Bungie comes along and says "Hey you, guardian, yeah you, the one who has been using 27 different weapons in the game ... we understand that we said we wanted you to try some new stuff but now you've tried waaaaaaay to much and we see that you are just wasting weapon parts so in order to balance that, we're going to just say fuk you and decrease the amount of weapon parts that you get so that you CANNOT upgrade any more weapons to test out and you will have to choose a few main weapons again!!" Me ... ummmmmmm ok Bungie, GAME ON!!! so now I have a few main weapons that I will use and allllllllllllllllllllllllllll those other weapons you are so desperately throwing at me to try out ... FUK THEM!!! DISMANTLED!!!
-
I agree with you completely and I have enough weapon parts. I just wanted to say it's pretty clear bungie cut them back because they wanted to throw up another speed bump on Grindy Lane. They don't care if some people are starving, obviously, because they already knew that and nerfed weapon parts anyway. They don't want people like me to turn them in for rep and get more faction packages since I have more than I need. Heaven forbid we get a couple more legendaries. It's just bungie being bungie, nerfing everything and then sometimes trying to do damage control in their news updates. I'm nerfing them off my xbox before destiny 2 drops. PS. Thanks for the two ghost shells from the nightfall. They are completely useless to me.

It makes zero sense to REDUCE parts because SOME people hoard them. If everyone had a surplus, fine, I get it. But why is that even a reason? It sounds to me like they want to make the game more of a grind and that was simply their only excuse. BTW, I'm a hoarder of weapon parts (hardly reforged at all) and I think this is a stupid reason to reduce # or parts.

Naturally they couldn't give you more drops AND allow you to upgrade them. They could just reduce the weapon part cost of infusing/upgrading weapons... or nah just create a shortage and pretend it's an impossible issue to fix. It's funny I have hundred on hundred of armor components, both old and new.. yet I never have 10 weapon parts.

PLEASE I BEG OF YOU

Weapon parts are now harder to get than a exotic. Before the 2.0.1 update I was able to get the weapon parts needed to upgrade my weapons. Doing bounties, quests and patrols was enough to get those weapon parts and save some in the end. After the update it's been a nightmare to get enough weapon parts to keep leveling up my gear. A few days ago, after playing over 90 minutes (daily heroic, bounties, Court of Oryx) I got eight blue engrams. All of them were armor engrams. So I'm still stuck with the same 5 (five) weapon parts. There's no way I'll spend endless hours just to upgrade or/and infuse my weapons, it's absolutely absurd. The 25% nerf on weapon parts broke the weapon leveling system. I checked several players and, like myself, they had most weapons with empty closed circles. They also are struggling to level up their weapons or infuse them. Bungie, has to take urgent measures to restore the balance of the gameplay. There's no point in making weapon parts so difficult to get, it ruins the fun and the whole point of playing Destiny. This issue must be fixed urgently.

Had hundreds before HoW, but had to level exotics @ 25 per, across 3 characters. That demolished mine quick. So, slowly stocked back up, but rerolling for perks killed those. Now they're all useless, and I get 4-7 back per gun AT BEST. Now I'm on a daily scrounge just to keep 20-40. It's maddening, and I want to find these ppl who are overflowing with weapon parts and figure out how much they play, because I play a lot for an adult with a family and a teaching job (which is really two jobs, I just don't get paid for the after hours grading and planning and shit, but still). I want to know how they do it. Hey Bungie, here's a thought: Materials exchange. Know why we need it? Let me demonstrate: Need Spirit Bloom? Run the old farming routes on Venus for 30 minutes and you've got between 30 and 50. Need Relic Iron? Farm the chests and stumps of it on Mars, same thing. Need Weapon parts? Run strikes that take 10-20 minutes and get FIVE armor engrams and MAYBE two weapons (and at least one of those blue weapon engrams will become a f'ing mote of light. You know it will). So let's say you're a badass (I'm not) and can run 4 heroic strikes in less than 30 minutes. Do you have the 30-50 weapon parts that you would get of Spinmetal units from farming the same amount of time? No. You MIGHT have 10-15. Infuse once and you have 5. Or maybe buy green guns that give you ONE FREAKING PART from the gunsmith for 800-1000 glimmer like before, such a ripoff. What's that? You now want 2500 Glimmer for a PoS green gun? SERIOUSLY? But yeah, we need to NERF the number of weapon parts we're getting. Right. Give me a F'n break. Whiskey. Tango. Foxtrot.

It's like the American Economy...

I screwed myself when I bought a shit load of 300 spindles and upgraded a bunch of stuff

I am not much of a forum poster but had to jump in on this one. I infuse a lot and between that and upgrades I am out of parts too. It's a rediculous nerf and obviously done to increase the grind.
-
BUMP This nerf was so mean :( Love the food analogy.

Bump!

Are weapon parts really that much of an issue? I have 800 or so and its sat there for the longest time. How many weapons are you guys upgrading? Lol
-
It's just a way of artificially extending playtime. Fixing things that aren't broken, inherently breaking them, then fixing them again weeks later.
-
This is Bungie's way of extending the grind. For new players that don't already know, this is Bungie's MO. They gave all the new players consumables to jump to level 20... from 20 getting to 40 doesn't take a lot. So... they let you level up A LOT faster than the rest of us. The quick leveling pretty much screwed you over in the process... you didn't get as many engrams getting to that level as someone that had to grind to get to 20 (x 3 in most cases). Less engrams = less weapon parts/armor materials. Most veteran players had a vault full of legendary and exotic weapons/armor as well as the weapons/armor in each character's inventory when TTK launched so we were sitting on a pile of parts/materials. I've dismantled most of the year 1 weapons and have to wait for parts to do upgrades. Again... This was Bungie's intention. For those of you that run past all of the adds and are crying about weapon parts/armor material, you did it to yourself. Green and blue engrams give you those parts/materials and you leave them on the table by running past everything. Those adds drop a lot more legendary engrams than ever before and now drop sublime engrams as well. This group can cry me a river... I hope you grind to the point of quitting.

I think the issue is that too many of you, upgrade and keep too many weapons. Other than the class specific guns, you only really need 1 set of weapons to move between your guardians. Sometimes I will test out a new weapon, to see if I like the base functionality of it, the base handling, and the feel of it, but most of the time if it isn't in the 294 and up range, it's instant weapon parts. Alot of the drops have perks I have no interest in so unless its high 290's, for infusion, they are just weapon parts. I have 2 guardians in the 295 to 299 range and my main at 302. But since I move my main guns between them all, I dismantle tons of guns after running strikes, court of Oryx, and dailies. And then the ton of blue weapons that you get in patrol and crucible. For every gun I choose to keep and upgrade, I bet I dismantle 10 to 20 a day. So even at only 2 a piece that's 40 parts a day. And personally I have never been under 100 parts per guardian. I should add I suppose, that I didn't go reforging crazy in HoW, so as a day 1 player I have plenty.

I have over 3,000 hours played on Destiny and currently I have 48 weapon parts, I started taken king dlc with over a 1,000 weapon parts and maybe I infused too many weapons in my arsenal in the first few days before I figured out how infusing really works. But either way, i wanted a higher light level and figured hell, I have a stockpile of parts! So for the past several weeks, I have been doing everything possible to get weapon parts, strikes, court, patrol, ect. I even spent the last 2 weeks dismantling ALL year one items including my beloved vault and crota raid weapons and trials weapons and yes 3 Gahallorns! I now have several 310 weapons just sitting in my vault not upgraded because you guessed it, no weapon parts. Most of the time when I turn in a weapon engram the damn cryptarch he gives me strange coins or motes. I understand destiny wants us to play all facets of the game, and I love the grind, but if I can buy helium for vanguard marks, why can't I buy weapon parts? I understand there should be a cost for parts. If Bungie doesn't want to do Marks for Parts, why not let us turn in strange coins, motes, or better yet how about these out dated and now useless ETHERIC lights I have stockpiled! You can only farm so many etheric lights per week, so why not use that as their balancing system? Thanks to the Kings fall ghost shell, I now have over a 1,000 wormspore, how about I give bungie wormspore or hadium flakes for weapon parts if destiny prefers we focus on the new dlc instead of year 1 activities! If you won't let me dismantle my spark of light, let me trade it in for weapon parts so at there is some benefit for it! Hell I will even give bungie heavy and special ammo syn for parts! The majority of my friends are having the same issue as well, and with over 3,000 hours played, if my friends and I are having this issue, I cant even imagine the problems the Destiny noobs are going through right now!
-
I rarely post but this is a big deal in TTK. The weapons grinding is a bear and like others have noted usable weapons drops are scarce. I'm having to resort to not leveling an alt level 32 character and use it just for weapons farming as under level 40 the weapons drops appear more reliable. It really sucks as the goal was to rank all my alts to level 40.

Im not playing until its sorted.
-
I think I'm may be the one inflating the economy sitting on 3400 never once since the game dropped have I even had a need for parts
