So this week for Game Design class we have to play World of Warcraft. In its 10+ years of existence this is the first time I've ever played this game. And you know what? It's honestly not that impressive. Sure I'm only a level 9 Orc Warrior and there is a lot of stuff I won't get to see since I'm playing the trial that lets you reach level 20. Still, I've seen nothing in this game that I can't get from Star Wars: The Old Republic, Guild Wars, or one of the many free to play MMOs.

It's like playing a retro nouveau game in a non-ironic way. The graphics need some work, the quests are vastly improved from pre-cataclysm, but the game failed to hold my interest this past expansion. As some said, it's all about the endgame and honestly, I never made it to the endgame this time around. The same thing happened to me in Cata. Though I had some external factors gumming up the works for me (I was in the army at the time). It takes a lot of commitment to really enjoy the game... But it also turns into a second job and I really haven't had the time for that lately.
