From the Kotaku article, which I recommend reading, the Diablo III developers gave Bungie a talk about what did and did not work with Diablo III.
“They were saying, like, ‘Hey, random numbers are not fun—dice rolls are not fun. You can give the illusion of randomness, but you want to weight it towards the player… The only point you have to deliver on is that when people leave your game—because they will—when they leave your game, they need to be happy.’”
Let's settle this. Are the Diablo III devs right. Are random numbers not fun? Is Bungie in the right for pushing random rewards? Is there a middle ground? Vote!
Edit: Bungie should heed these results. The overwhelming majority like the idea of RNG in theory but not practice. Whatever Bungie is doing to affect randomness in our favor, it isn't working.

This is the first post where I see positive comments about Destiny RNG. You either are paid by Bungie, not in the game for long enough, or just a crowd that thinks differently. I respect your opinion wherever you stand. I am just very surprised. I've ran raids more times than I can remember to either get things I already had received (i.e.: 10 Mida Multi-tool) or shards/energy. I have never received Gjallarhorn and Hunger of Crota. The Crota Boots only dropped for me twice and only after many attempts. I did get the Crux of Crota 3 times though. To me and my team it has been extremely frustrating to dismantle an Exotic someone has never been able to get, and have no option to give it away instead or exchange w/ the other player. To me, Destiny RNG is one of the main problems in the game and one I do not believe Bungie will ever fix.
