From the Kotaku article, which I recommend reading, the Diablo III developers gave Bungie a talk about what did and did not work with Diablo III.
“They were saying, like, ‘Hey, random numbers are not fun—dice rolls are not fun. You can give the illusion of randomness, but you want to weight it towards the player… The only point you have to deliver on is that when people leave your game—because they will—when they leave your game, they need to be happy.’”
Let's settle this. Are the Diablo III devs right. Are random numbers not fun? Is Bungie in the right for pushing random rewards? Is there a middle ground? Vote!
Edit: Bungie should heed these results. The overwhelming majority like the idea of RNG in theory but not practice. Whatever Bungie is doing to affect randomness in our favor, it isn't working.

The problem is that RNG this loose and without parameters is not fun. Bungie is failing at their mission of "having people leave happy". Due to the horrible RNG and boring grind, most people are leaving, frustrated, annoyed or angry.
