Considering you have games like Dragon Age: Inquisition on the 360, I highly doubt Last Gen is to blame for anything. I think its more likely that media outlets paint them as a problem to create a convenient scapegoat to offer up to the masses.

So, do u think spending less money and time on last gen would not make for a better game on current gen? They need to get the whole community hooked and advertise the best they can and appeal to last gen before they cut the umbilical cord

Bare in mind, Destiny was actually designed for the PS3. "Next Gen" was still in development back then. They ported the game to Xbox One and PS4. The main issue here is poor leadership and bad decisions being made, like having a near complete game and then throwing most of it out at like the last minute and thinking they actually had the time and ability to create something "new" before launch.

Even if they drop last gen it's still the same engine. A whole brand new engine would need to be made to alleviate the engine excuse posed in the article.
