For fark sakes.
Who thought this was a good idea? Was it the same guy that sat in on a meeting and thought "lawl, now wait a week" was a great idea for a quest step? Was he drunk? Are you sure? Did you check? You should probably go check. He could be passed out with his hand stuck in the vending machine and require emergency assistance.
Seriously though, its irritating and a real slap in the face after the amount of effort people put into finding and completing these exotics quests. Its like getting grounded for a week after coming home with a straight A report card.
( No really though, go check the vending machines just to be safe ).

For fark sakes 2.0
I'm not sure why people are talking about RNGesus or vanilla Destiny. This isn't a binary problem with only two solutions. Exotic quest lines aren't going to vanish because the requirement to sit on your ass for a week or wait for a certain quest on a certain day were removed. I'm not not sure why people think being drip fed existing content makes the game better or more "fair" or whatever.
It would be a different story if we were talking about new content being created and added on a semi regular basis. But I'm referring to existing content we already knew about weeks in advance. Which was not available at release and/or which Bungie allowed us to run around trying to find without telling us it was impossible. Bungie does have the ability to keep things out of the database away from our prying eyes as well as the ability to not hype something a month before release without mentioning the little problem that it wouldn't be available at release.
Let me bullet point this:
1. Showing players things they can't have without telling them they can't have it = BAD.
2. Forcing players to wait and watch for a specific day / time window ( people have lives you know ) to obtain something or miss out = BAD.
3. Forcing players to wait for a week or two at random in the middle of a quest line for no reason whatsoever = BAD.
At no point did I suggest we should all go back to chasing the White Whale, er, Gally as the ideal exotic solution. ( and you guys do remember there were exotic quests before TTK, right? )
The ideal exotic solution would be for exotics to be a balanced mixture of engrams, quest lines and challenges ( such as Black Spindle. ) without the pointlessly arbitrary stop gaps of forced waiting periods or limited time windows. Those serve no purpose at all to the players. They may serve a purpose to Bungie or Activision ( Stretching limited available content, trying to finish content that they should have had ready at release, etc ) but that is not in our interest. That's in their interest.
The game should be in the player's interest. We're the ones who play it, support it and paid for it.
( Really though, did you check the vending machines yet? I'm getting worried. )

Halo 5 will be out soon, so we can forget this ever existed.
-
Yeah the waiting for armsday or the weekly reset to get Chaperone is the stupid crap I have ever seen.
-
So you rather have all exotics right this moment? Yeah no
-
The only acceptable Timegates in Destiny are Vex Timegates.
-
Halo 5 + Reddit is all you need friend. I'll max out my marks and check Reddit everyday at 3pm.....if nothing cool is happening I'll stick to Halo 5 til summer
-
Don't mind the mission related exotics, or bungie waiting to release exotic, or questlines for them I don't agree with them putting in needless wait time in the middle of a quest....like exotic swords, and first curse.
-
Yeah put them back in RNG so people can complain for month about not getting something.
-
It's a video game, waiting a week won't hurt you.
-
I agree. I play Destiny a lot, I mean, like, way too much. However, the first two times that Back Spindle was available I was not able to play. Then, the third time it was available I basically cancelled something else I was planning to do because, who knows, I might not get the chance to do it again and I don't want to be the only guy on my raid team without it. There is actually a simple fix for this. Bungie should have had the Black spindle drop the way that it did, on some random day of the week. Then, make that mission the daily again on Saturday, or at least announce WHEN it will be the daily again so that people can plan for it.
-
This is the way bungie can get you to play destiny every week. It's like a mobile game that makes you buy a tower upgrade and wait a few hours until the next upgrade. It plays on the completion mentality that every person has, and they play on that to make you keep playing until the next dlc
-
Patience isn't just a virtue anymore it's more akin to a superpower... Wait a week. You won't die.
-
I have no doubt that they will now cease and desist all time gated activities because of this post

Yeah its annoying but atleast it's better than playing everything every week for a whole year just hoping to get the one weapon you want. I've been here since the Alpha, and i didnt get gally until Xur sold it the second time. I'd rather wait a few weeks for a guaranteed exotic than put up with the bullshit RNG every week for a year. Not saying time gating is good either but it's a huge improvement, so I'm not really upset about it.
-
This is the reason I haven't played a lot recently... I refuse to sit and wait for a chance to continue a quest. Exotic or not.
-
I prefer it honestly. I'd rather wait for everything than be handed it early and have nothing to do later on
-
I said it once, I'll say it again... Halo 5 and Fallout 4. They need a reason for you to keep playing.
-
I like the idea of 'events' with better rewards.. it's keeping things interesting. No need to rushrushrushrush to get everything. you do not win the internet when you do.
-
Great idea. Why? If they weren't time-gated we would have nothing to look forward to right now. It prolongs the content of the DLC itself. Smart move. But extremely annoying for us. Turn your perspective around.
-
100% agree. It's stupid, anything time gated I automatically couldn't care less about
-
This just in: "Phd students at Michigan University have just uncovered a mountain of data correlating a massive increase in the average male penis size over the last 20 years. Data suggests that the elongation of said phalluses began the moment the first anonymous online chat forum opened to the public. 'It seems to just make your cock bigger' said lead researcher Mike Hunt Phd."

First Curse's quest is really annoying. Step 1: Get hand cannon kills with a telemetry on. Step 2: Wait a week. Step 3: Infuse a common and go on sprees with it. Step 4: Wait. Step 5: Get gun. Why do you have to wait half a month to get an exotic that isn't even top tier? Plus, you already had to go through about 2 months of trial weapons to actually get the quest; why make that 2.5?

All these guys defending timegating.... I don't see any timegating on other games... I bought batman and the entire game was there for me to play... ALL OF IT. Nobody complained that they were out of content because they played through it too fast. The Witcher, Batman, Mass Effect, Halo, Gears of War, Final Fantasy, Skyrim, Fallout... all of these games release with full content and no time gate. And there are people playing it for months and even years without any new content. I paid for this game. The Taken King Expansion was the same costs as Fallout 4. I don't want nor do I appreciate bungie telling me that the only way for me to get The Black Spindle is to play it on the day its a daily without notifying me of when this is going to occur. I cant check everyday and then get a team ready when the day comes: i have a life and so do my friends. Sometimes we cant play at all. Now if bungie did it like Trials or Iron Banner and gave us the date in advance: sure, I can schedule it. But "SURPRISE! DO IT NOW OR ITS GONE!" is only for people who don't work, don't study or are obsessed with the game. And apparently because there was a match yesterday my team was watching it instead of playing and it looks like there was some special quest? whats this about visiting FWC and heading to the vault I am hearing? Gee, thanks a lot bungie. I really like knowing that i missed on something because im not playing 24/7

Serious question, not trolling. Would you rather these guns be thrown into the RNGeezus pile? Having an absolute way to obtain them other than Random Von Randomness is a welcome change. So they are staggering them a bit, not a big deal. This DLC is still on the newer side here guys. If they released all of these missions at once, we would all have the exotics in the first week and be holding out our empty porridge bowl saying "please sir, may I have some more". I will take staggered, guaranteed exotics over RNG any day. Now my friends and I can all get these guns and I don't have to secretly hate them for getting drops I don't. But that's just one anonymous internet guys opinion.
