It's literally because witch is easier to say (basically 1 syllable) than wizard (basically 3 syllables)
Edit: y'all know what I mean... Pronouncing the words as which vs wi-zar-d
Second edit: btw... I hate you all.

Your grammar and spelling my gosh
-
The only word that is (intentionally) misspelled is "which". Which is why I put the clarifying statement "pronounced like which" to further emphasize that it's said quickly and the "T" doesn't get in the way linguistically. As far as the 3 syllables. I know it's technically only 2 although the D on the end does add an extra syllable. Wiz -ar-d. Thanks for your input.
-
Every word that ends in D has an extra syllable. Frien-d Wiz-ar-d Lor-d An-d Han-d Fun-d Poun-d Kin-d Sen-d San-d
-
You could not be more wrong. The letter D doesn't make a vowel sound. How old are you?
-
I'm merely making fun of him. He is the that said a this I his post. But I'm 25 if you must know, frien-d.
-
Forgive me fine sir
-
That's right. Yeah. Wi-zar-duh. You are a special kind of stupid.
