If you haven't seen Fullmetal Alchemist, do this:
1. Watch the 2003 FMA
2. Then, watch FMA Brotherhood

I felt the same way about FMA because I watched Brotherhood first. The original anime just seemed wrong lol. Not hating. My point is that whichever one you watch first will ruin the other for you. With this in mind I do recommend Brotherhood lol

This, I think the original is way better though, I couldn't get into brotherhood, just had a different vibe.

Fun fact. The original was produced while the manga was still being written, and so caught up with it. The manga's author gave the produces permission to go on and develop their own ending. When Brotherhood was made, the manga was complete, and so they matched. I agree, while it's not that faithful to the magna I like the original tv run the best. Brotherhood is great, but the first series is better to me.
