I say we stop playing, stop buying...

I say we stop playing, stop buying(real money value), continuing to rant and rave, until something is done about the servers! Agreed? Just an idea. It's annoying they refuse to admit it's on their side. Everything on my side works. All my games work on PSN (do not have Destiny on there). Can use the network on my laptop. Can use Netflix, play other games online, just not Destiny. Why? Bungie, let's go. I am ready to say forget and no longer be an invester. If I am going to pay, I want to play. There are plenty of others who are having the same issue.

  • I'm going to state this as I have stated in numerous other threads set up by people like you. Bungie does NOT host actual hosting servers, they use switching servers. This is a Peer-To-Peer system which right now is unseen by any other game. What this means is that you have to have a stable downstream (>20 Mbps) and upstream (>5 Mbps) to actually have a good connection. These are MINIMUM requirements. This game is UNLIKE any other game out there for playing online with others. I cannot state this enough. I am tired of hearing people say, "I can play <INSERT GAME HERE> fine". That game is NOT Destiny. Destiny sends a consistent high load of upstream data (especially if you pull host) which requires a consistent constant connection. This is why wireless connected consoles have so much issue. No matter how good your wireless signal / router /etc is; you still have significant packet loss. With other services (browsing the internet, Netflix, etc.) there is a buffering time that makes up for this. In Destiny's case, there is no way to do it. Let's examine how this works in the absolute simplest way I can explain it to you. This is basically how your console works (if you are not pulling host): Your Console -> Your ISP -> PSN/XLIVE -> Bungie Switching Servers -> PLAYER WHO IS HOST -> Their PSN/XLIVE -> Their ISP -> Their Console Now that is as simple as I can get it but also if you figure, you probably have a set up like this: Console->Router->Modem->ISP and so does the other person which have firewalls, etc. All those add lag to everything. Now if you pull host (even on the PvP missions), you have everyone in the area or game connecting to you. Add that load to your connection, which your connection is NOT used to or set up for. You may have a good enough connection for Little Big Planet or for Advanced Warfare or for Battlefield 4 but those would all use HOSTED servers, not Peer-To-Peer server hosting. If you DO NOT configure your network for Destiny, you will have problems. If you DO NOT hardwire your console, you typically will have problems. I don't know how many times I have to say this is NOT a server side problem but a client side problem.
