The darkness caused the collapse, which is the end of our Golden Age. However many have trouble actually defining the darkness. Some say it was corruption from within ourselves, or that the darkness is an alien force that utterly destroyed our creations and left us with only the last city on earth. Some labeled as heretics say that the traveler ushered in the darkness, and began the collapse, the end of the golden age.
