I an a marvel of ten thousand arms- Dreg's Promise
The Marvel of Ten Thousand arms is a story passed down by the Eliksni, or Fallen. It describes a fabled Star Catcher, a God-ish Eliksni with 10,000 arms. It is fake ,obviously, but is still passed down from generation to generation of Eliksni, meant to give hope and keep each rank in their line. The hope that, if you work hard enough, you can climb to greatness. A simple hard working Dreg can become a Vandal, then Captin, then Barron, etc. That any Eliksni can become a "marvel of ten thousand arms".
This is, also, a lie. The only way to become powerful in the Eliksni is through brutality and back- stabbing.
The marvel of ten thousand also refers to an Eliksni of power, as shown in Ghost Fragment: Fallen 2.
But I digress.
AND NOW I KNOW WHAT THEY CALL THE GREAT TRUTH AND NOW I KNOW I CAN NEVER BE A MARVEL OF TEN THOUSAND ARMS.
What is this you may ask? Well I have no clue. I had a pre- Destiny file on my computer. I wrote it down in a Fallen Section without citation. But what is the Great Truth? Why does it make the speaker realize that he can't "become a marvel of ten thousand arms"? Well on this file was also the pre- Destiny, data mined version of what is now the Queen Breaker's Bow. And it's description? "The Great Machine did not give up on us. It fled."- The Great Truth.
Well this is interesting. The Eliksni knew that the Traveler did not, in fact, give up on the them, but rather fled, presumably because it was being chased by Oyrx or the darkness.
But this still leaves a question: Why does this knowledge prevent him from being a MARVEL OF TEN THOUSAND ARMS? Well here's my theory: The Eliksni have been living, hunting the Traveler, trying to get their golden age back. They have been doing this under the impression that it left them because it saw them unworthy for its gifts. They believed it was a God and it deemed them unfit for its blessings. This proves otherwise. This proves that the Traveler isn't perfect. It fled. Imagine if you found out your religion was false. That your god wasn't as powerful as you thought. That evil was more powerful than it and it was on the run. Everything you know and believe in is a lie. That would be crushing.

So when they saw we stole the Great Machine from them, they think that by killing us the Traveler will return their grace and Light to them?
