They wanted a new armory system. One that had different options and varied what people used.
Not to sound like a broken record, but did you play House of Wolves? Because that is EXACTLY what it did to the ecosystem. HoW saw more varied gear use than ever before, because it gave people CHOICES. Yes, there were still a few weapons that were ABSOLUTELY used too often (Ghorn still reigned in PvE, Thorn/TLW in PvP, etc.), but the 2.0 patch already fixed that. So, if anything, allowing Infusion for Year 1 would've have almost certainly done exactly what you're asking, even BETTER than before. And, even if you don't care about using old stuff, think about it; would that fact that I still used old gear affect your experience in any way? I have no interest in stopping you from playing with whatever gear you chose, but I would like the same option. :/

Honestly man, no - except for certain weapons that I felt broke the game. Personal opinion... But if they didn't revamp the whole system, how much hell do you think they would catch if they just removed problem weapons that so many people loved like Ghorn and thorn? People would shit... But thorn had to go imo. So did g horn, even after nerf. At least this way, this restart may be the start of what you want, a healthy comprehensive weapon system as we move forward? Though I doubt it because they want their money Edit - yes I played how, liked that they brought back older weapons, but still felt that there was a hand full of "worth it" weapons and the rest were just kinda there
