Hey guys,
So I was dismantling the majority of my Year 1 weapons until I noticed something quite strange which caught my attention. I came across 1 of my 3 Vestian Dynasty sidearms (the HoW reward) and as I tried to dismantle the weapon it was taking a long time to load the dismantle bar rather than the normal 2-3 seconds. I also noticed that you can actually upgrade the weapon to its Year 1 max damage for 25 legendary coins. Now this is where it gets interesting...
We know the strangers rifle is destined for exotic status at some point in the future, now if you notice in the upgrade area for this weapon you can also upgrade to the Year 1 max for 25 legendary coins.
Why would we be using the new Year 2 currency to upgrade these weapons instead of etheric light?
Currently there is no exotic sidearm available (someone correct me if I'm wrong, I haven't looked at the Year 2 exotics list in full) so this further peaks my suspicions that at some point we will receive a quest to upgrade this weapon to an exotic. Also note that this was the first sidearm to be introduced into Destiny!
Another relevant piece of info is the fact that you can no longer purchase the weapon from Petra at the reef!
Am I grasping at straws here or could I be right? Let me know what you guys think!
Cheers!
Edit 1 - Don't dismantle the weapon just in case! Keep at least 1 in your vault.

That's exciting! You can still buy them from Petra too.

Dun dun dunnnnn!

Check the grimoire, the Vestian Dynasty is now listed with the other exotic special weapons.

I've kept mine as well, along with all the old raid gear in hopes they will be useful at some point. I hope you are right, as that was a great weapon, but I would not be surprised either way
