I have played Destiny for awhile. Granted, it may not been from day 1 release (I did play the Beta). You could say that I'm a completionist or just OCD. I do have a life/wife/etc. so I can't spend every moment my eyelids are open on a game. You have stated you want to make the game available for casual games, yet more and more releases are counter productive to that.
There are several Year 1 exotics I still don't have. There are year 1 I have which haven't been brought to year 2 (at least yet), and year 2 that I have yet I still need to unlock for year 1. I think the Legacy exotic engrams sold by Xur are great (maybe a little pricey). I would like to see it expanded.
We have all reached the conclusion that there is no place for a year 1 item (except maybe in crucible, but even then still beaten). We can upgrade some of our year 1 to year 2 with legendary marks. Why can't we go the other way?
Continuing with Xur, this is the 3rd week in a row he has sold the heavy weapon legacy engram. There are 5 weapons and it gets 3 weeks, while ~8 special for 1 week, ~10 primary for 1 week. If you needed that one final primary, you have had to wait a month. Why not offer all each week? Why not offer legacy armor engrams?
On a tangent: how many times do I have to play the pvp maps before it finally unlocks in my grimoire stack? I have played every crucible arena (except cathedral of dusk) so far, yet still have 7 year 1 maps to "unlock"?!
In summary,
*Allow backwards progression for exotic blueprints (pay legendary marks to unlock year 1 if year 2 has been "discovered")
*Xur should sell Legacy armor pieces
*Xur should offer all Legacy engrams constantly.
*If crucible arena grimoire is going to continue to be bugged, just activate the cards.

I think year 1 exotics are still available from year 1 raids and PoE.
