Stopped reading when you asked people not to relate to other MMOs and shooters. The entire process is void if you choose to ignore opinions you don't like.
Anyway, Year 1 had perks and guns that were poorly balanced and they chose not to carry them over for that reason. A clean slate on which to renew the sandbox, this time with balance.

They REBALANCED THEM. Nerfed the OP weapons. Why shouldn't they carry over into Y2 now?

I'm saying that I want a reason why Year 1 needs (again, NEEDS) to be left behind. Just because other games leave gear behind in no way means that Destiny is bound to follow their lead, so using other games as examples only serves to muddy the argument (and plenty of other games do allow for continued gear upgrades, so it's easy to argue against, either way). Again, I'm specifically looking for anything in this game that in any way makes it necessary to leave Year 1 behind.
Anyway, Year 1 had perks and guns that were poorly balanced and they chose not to carry them over for that reason.
Sounds like someone didn't read the 2.0 patch notes. Literally every single Year 1 perk has been nerfed, in addition to virtually every single OP weapon. So, while your argument may have been valid at one point, it is no longer valid in any way. Get with the times, man. ;)

They didn't rebalance every single perk and gun. It was a very limited few which were balanced.
very limited few
Bro, the patch notes alone list THIRTY PERKS. You're killing me, haha. Just admit it; your argument is invalid.

The stupidity of the average player is real bro.
