Sorry but there is no story, only a few guns have a "lore" and only by the small description inside the game, and if the lore isnt in the game, if i need to; exit the game, login in a external place outside of the game, and read a "grimoire" .
Which means no one cares of what the hell you are doing, while you are doing.
Extended material like the grimoire should be used to enrich the lore , not " put all the story or lore of the game" outside of the game.

Without reading the grimoire? I'm not even mad that's amazing. Not being rude just an opinion, it seems that no one can put something without "random guy appears: omg you're such an ass , you cant put something unless is a compliment " lol

You must listen to a lot of Angry Joe's videos huh ? Lore can come from anywhere, Just like with Halo and it's novels. Destiny has a rich universe and lore without a doubt. Take that spoon fed parrot talk some where else.

Prove me wrong but, at first ,did you asked yourself, while playing Destiny, why im dead, who are the fallen , what was that epic battle when they crippled the traveler, what happened to the moon, etc. There is no story is just blind shooting at enemies for no reason. I dont hate Destiny, what bothers me is that, did you play Dark Souls? , well there is no story , the intro of the game shows only a part of the lore of the game ,however the story is well hidden in the ITEMS and the NPCs, and i could tell you the story or lore of all the characters of the game, and unlike Destiny ,the story and lore of characters are INSIDE the game. As for the Angry Joe mention, no i haven't watched the Destiny review, i saw the Honest Trailer, maybe I will watch the review and reply later for a opinion.
