So, I was just thinking about Tress coming to hang out and sell us premium emotes for money. And how the Destiny community is for the most part accepting of it, provided that it is just cosmetic.
How strange though...
Months ago, Evolve came out and the gaming community shunned/attacked it because it had a ton of cosmetic content that were micro-transactions. The argument was, 'why not include it with the game if we're paying $60 bucks?'
But here we are, same story, different game, and almost no one seems to care cause it isn't pay-to-win and we get a free taste.
People are becoming dependent on Destiny and this addiction is allowing standards and practices that wouldn't fly in other games to run rampant.
Just food for thought!
-
Didnt Evolve have something like +150$ of microtransactions, and not all were just cosmetic?
-
It's not bad. It's just cosmetics and if u don't buy any silver with money it doesn't hurt the game or the experience. I like how we get free silver so we can have a taste of the emotes.
-
Because it's just emotes.. I mean, if it were shaders or weapon skins I wouldn't be happy

- butthurt
-
The difference is that Evolve sucked.
-
We should be remembering Activision/Blizzards auction house from the pc Diablo 3. I paid full price for a game that I couldn't even get a sniff of good loot from unless I bought it from the auction house
-
Most people don't like P2W, this was especially bad for Evolve because the pvp is the bread and butter of the game, pve is just not great or almost non existent. You know something is wrong when they release a monster for $15. You really can't compare it to destiny, that's just absurd.
-
Edited by AndyCandy88: 10/13/2015 11:05:54 PMAs someone who really like evolve (at first) these two games aren't comparable at all. Even vanilla destiny gives a lot more content for the money. But I will agree with the premise that evolve tried to sell something that should have been included in the pricey game and it bit them in the a$$. With all the speculation that Bungie/Activision will ultimately abuse the system here too, they'd best be careful. Otherwise they'll alienate their core and no one will be back for the next full game release.

Edited by DarkMythos: 10/13/2015 10:50:51 PMYes, let's take everything that made evolve terrible like that DLC shit, and throw it all out the window so we can manage to compare it to a game that just has a few damn emotes. The fact that you compare that to this tells me your an idiot.
-
i remember evolving my pokemon! oh wait, you mean an overhyped game riddled with microtransactions...
-
Evolve was a shallow game. No variety of gameplay outside of the admittedly creative general concept.
-
This game is an addiction and until a game comes out to break that addiction then people are hopelessly offering burgers with cheese for whatever Bungie shells out. Sad thing is the management team sucks at Bungie, the game lacks real content, the game is still lacking a story (all they have down so far is build upon the DLC story, there are still huge holes in the story from Vanilla Destiny), and they are still charging a premium price for a subpar product.

What is Evolve? LOL
-
My girlfriend bought me Evolve for my birthday and I returned it because I knew that it was going to have a play life of like 4 hours... I traded it in for Witcher 3, which was one of my better life choices. Putting micro-transactions into a game where you aren't going to get your money's worth in the first place just adds insult to injury. Many of us here at Destiny have been playing for over a year. I know I've gotten my money's worth out of this game. I've already gotten my money's worth out of this expansion... So if they want to toss in cosmetic microtransactions... so be it. If they want to milk a little money out of me for a new sweet weapon... well then I guess I'm ok with that too.
-
Reasoning for evolve -A: it wasnt all just cosmetics. Some where forced dlc characters at stupid prices. Pay to win with a certain team. -B: they claimed all maps added were to be free dlc, added 1 map, then abandoned it. -C: they were so focused on these additional bullshitty things that they totally scrapped scaling. Playing as monster became nigh impossible with introductions of new, overpowered characters, and all fun ceased when you were forced to be Craken or Behemoth for the 80,000th time
-
Did any new hunters arrive besides jack and lennox?
-
Meh. I have no problem with the way evolve did their micro transactions. In fact, I would praise them for doing it right because 1) everything sold was and still is cosmetic, and 2) so far, all of their dlc has been free. The game sucked, but that's besides the point.
-
Not the same story. Not even close to the same story.
-
Evolves?? The Starcraft map on pc used to be soo fun. It was a custom group of multiplayer maps made by the players in the comminuty. So much fun!!! Aaaahhh
-
I never even got to the point with Evolve where I thought about DLC and microtransaction stuff. After a couple hours of either trying to evade as the monster, or chase as the team, I was bored out of my mind and never played again. The game had so much potential, but it just wasn't fun to me.
-
Yea, it murdered destiny
-
People got pissed because it launched with 50+ micro transaction
-
There were way more cosmetic microtransactions in that game and that was at launch.
-
Edited by X SkeletonCandy: 10/13/2015 8:29:15 PMPeople were mad because on the first day Evolve came out, there was like 17 little packs you could buy, as well as unlocking all the characters. Much different this time around.

Evolve is so fun
