Catholic is a type of Christianity. I was raised Catholic, my father is Lutheran. Both are Christians, they don't believe the same things. (For those who don't know).

They are basically the same religion....I tend to ignore both the crazies.

It's because for the most part, Christians can be ignorant and two-faced, setting a bad example for the rest of us who just want to follow our beliefs, and be excellent to people. Not all of us are douches I promise

Catholics differ ftom protestants as they have nothing to prove. Catholicism is the vast majority of all world wide Christianity. What we have in the United States is the loud mouth red-headed step children of Catholicism. Catholics also don't go door to door, yell on corners, and in general make too much of a pest of them selves by comparison. That would be my theory on why Atheist careless about engaging Catholics.
