So guardians im writing a paper on rock music and its evolution from 1983 to 2015 and i have to pick and write about 2 bands from each era and how they influenced today's music. So far for the 80's i picked Metallica and Van Halen, for the 90's it was Nirvana and Red Hot Chili Peppers. Im having a tough time for the 2000's and id like your input. The bands that i have ideas for are The Gorillaz, The White Stripes, Cthonic (melodic taiwanese death metal band that is introducing metal to asia) and System Of A Down. Any input or band suggestions is greatly appreciated. :)

2000s: in continuing with the The White Stripes, you could roll with the Strokes. They continue the chain of weird New York style bands that started with VU then Ramones then SY then Strokes. You could also roll with Modest Mouse. They're a mainstream indie act now, but they were indie before indie was cool in the early 2000s.

Dude, Disturbed made a huge impact on Rock/Metal in the 2000s, Avenged Sevenfold as well.

We're not guardians here, but Gorillaz is definitely a good choice. They have a lot of collaboration work, so.
